Back in Walton

I’m back at Walton now to pick up my keys and the stuff I have ordered.

I’ll call you later and you can decide which country I am in. … Read the rest

Dunkirk

I am now in Dunkirk waiting for the 20:00 ferry to Dover. They told me that I could only bring 5 pets as it is only 5 per person. Assuming you had a car with four people, you could bring 20 dogs!

I put a puppy on the counter so they let me through after he widdled in their computer.… Read the rest

Arrived in Venice

Just coming alongside in Venice and will visit the vet to see if there is any sign of life there.

Otherwise will head for the Italian border with Switzerland.

I’m in Switzerland just south of the St Gotthard Tunnel. There’s a tailback as far as the services so I’ve stopped for a rest, something to eat and a drink.… Read the rest

Igoumenitsa

I had more than one glass of wine and eventually fell asleep on the seat at the back of the van. The puppies seemed to be ok and Dave seemed to be ok, so I left them all to it and went to bed.

I woke at 05:30 to the sound of them eating from the big bowl of food I left out as I could not be bothered to put it separately.… Read the rest

Sunny and warm in Crete today

Now that April is upon us, the weather is definitely picking up. The nights are warmer as are the days. It’s a bit cloudy occasionally but generally good.
All dogs are well and currently sleeping in the sun quietly.
Vagelis tells me he broke the glass in the door of one of the chalets as he was cutting the grass earlier so he’s rushing around trying to get a new pane for the weekend as I think it is let.… Read the rest

Patras – Venice

Having not let me through police control last night due to not having an ownership document for the puppies, tonight they didn’t even ask to see any of the nicely forged documents the Cretan vet and I had created!

The puppies wanted to come out on deck for a wee but changed their minds when they saw the size of the trucks.… Read the rest

Stuck in Patras

I’m stuck in Patras due to industrial action and puppy paperwork but hope to have it all sorted for this evening’s crossing. Due to the weekend, I’ll not be able to get to the vet until Monday morning, then have to wait 24 hours before departure. The earliest I’d be back is Tuesday or maybe Wednesday.… Read the rest

Ferry to Piraeus

It’s been a long day as the ferry left Souda much later, due to the strike, so arrived in Pireaus during the morning rush hour, consequently, we were stuck outside waiting for a slot. I was on deck with Dave, as I had left all the others in the van, not having the desire to struggle with six dogs from the garage deck to deck 10.… Read the rest

Sunny Crete is still sunny

April 1st yesterday but there is no pinch and a punch in Greece as far as I can work out and I’m not sure if the do April Fools either.

I did lots of washing yesterday and got it all dry. I also tidied all of the rubbish out of the van getting rid of the useless stuff I had been keeping just in case it might come in handy.… Read the rest
