Cretan News

Still in the same place but quite busy at present working on the EG’s new servers.

After all the excitement of having rain on Monday, I’ve been quite exhausted!
Being the unofficial tourist board for Crete. I have been writing emails to Eleanor’s friend Fiona who is coming here in the middle of July.
Yesterday the WiFi at Cedar Bay Villas went AWOL so I’ve had to resort to using the Grammeno WiFi. Consequently my weather station has not reported for over a day as it is connected to their system. It is back on today but very slow so I have a mind to complain to them about it as it’s such a poor show.
On Monday evening I met a Swiss couple whilst out walking in the evening. It transpired that they are staying on the camping in one of the little cabins. I also chatted yesterday evening, and indeed this morning, to a German guy who is also in one of them. He tells me he pays €20 per day for one person. He’s having a little holiday as the weather in Germany is not to his liking at present. He was talking about all his travels around the world and there seems to be few locations he hasn’t visited. He’s a bit older than me I should imagine.
There seems to have been a bit of a staff change at the supermarket as the lady on the cheese and olive counter is no longer there and the nice lady who always says hello has not been there either. The owner or manager was on the till this morning and, having established that I was English and not German, we proceeded to practice “Have a nice day” in English. I mentioned that it was a bit of an American expression.
Work continues on the building site with an excavator there this morning pushing soil into the reinforced spaces. I didn’t take my phone so no picture today. I am unable to work out what it is going to be.
I think that about gets you up to day with the latest Cretan news!
