Ben Hurr rides again

The Small Dogs have too much energy and are not finding the communal walks challenging enough so I decided on an experiment this morning. It involved taking the SDs with me to the supermarket which, I suppose, is around 3km round trip. I have not had them run alongside the bike before and know that they can be very easily distracted so took the precaution of a fairly short rope loosely held. They seemed eager enough, so off we set. They made the supermarket in good time with Fido almost constantly in the lead. Following a short rest whilst I went in to do the shopping, we started the return run. It must be emphasised that they were less energetic although the dogs which have been straying onto the camping provided a worthwhile diversion necessitating a short cut in front of my bike. Some of the traffic was inconvenienced due to the number of dogs in the road but in Greece, dogs, sheep, goats etc are all expected to be wandering at large. Once in the camping, I had a chat with the retired British couple who are near to the road, and it has been quiet ever since. We may continue to perform this ritual daily if it does the job.

The wind has at last abated so it is quite hot today and a bit sticky. One cannot have it all ways as I am sure the actress pointed out to the bishop.
The was quite a pronounced exodus yesterday afternoon as people packed up and left. The beach was quite busy but then on a Sunday afternoon in August, you’d hope it would be.
After the evening walk, I went for a drink with Tony and his wife, whose name escapes me at the moment, the British couple. They don’t stay up late so I was back by 21:30: having stuffed myself with olives and pumpkin seeds, I wasn’t feeling very hungry so watched the box for a while before going to bed.
Today I am contemplating the possibility of doing some washing but I’m sure I will be able to find more pressing things requiring my attention enabling me to put it off for a while longer. The high winds and the flying dust have provided an ample excuse for the past few days.
As it is August Bank Holiday in UK it must be raining…
