Getting chillier

I suspect I know what time you were woken up on Sunday morning as it was I who called at 05:30 (BST). I’m glad you had a good time at Blenheim and I hope you passed on my best wishes to Winston if you saw him.

It would seem that Mr Stallard is getting quite Ernest at being Important: he must know most of the lines by now I should imagine. Danger of being typecast if he’s not careful.
We had no more rain yesterday following that which arrived in the early morning and the remainder of the day was warm and sunny. I spent some time removing a bit more of the adhesive left from that horrid plastic which was stuck to all the woodwork. It’s cooler now so possible to stay inside and get things done without suffocating. In fact the exterior temperature during the night dropped down to almost 19C and I could hear that the dogs were noticing the coolness as they start to dig when it gets chilly. The Small Dogs have covers over them so they are warmer than Dave and Boris who are outside. They can choose to go into their kennels if they wish but prefer to stay outside and Dave seems to enjoy expelling any blanket I put inside for him.
In the evening we ran into some English people out walking on the dunes. They are in one of the villas and are at the end of the first of their two weeks – wealthy people! We ran into them again as we passed the beach kantina where they were imbibing of a local beer. Such decadence!
Today is mostly sunny but with a chilly start: the chilliest for a very long time. I almost thought about putting on a light outer garment but decided against it in the end. The sun is still rising behind the mountains but it’s working its way back towards the sea. Come December it will be rising right out to sea. The Sea Daffodils are very numerous and at about at their peak: they smell particularly lovely in the mornings.
I have been in Grammeno two years!
