Oiling my deck

Adonis came by earlier with some teak oil for the deck. He bought two tins and a roller so that I could apply it quickly. I started off thinking I would try it on just a couple of boards but ended up doing the first ten, until the tin was empty. The timber certainly looks different, and the product is touch-dry so far however there are areas where there has been some interesting interactions with resin from the wood. I might decide to leave it for a couple of days to see how it comes out and perhaps try a different product on the remainder of the wood if I don’t like the way it turns out.

Chatting this morning with an English couple and a young female, I take to be their daughter, who came to Crete way back in 1973, when we were in Tolo. She, however, is a little older than me and had attended art college so was travelling with a couple of female friends. I think their daughter was rather surprised by the revelation that her mother had such a wild youth. After all, none of us have done anything like as exciting as the youth of today. We are all old fogeys and know nothing…
Other than the usual trip to the supermarket around lunchtime, I’ve not really done a lot else except laze on my chair and think beautiful thoughts with the occasional conversation with Manos. It’s quite hot so I’m sort of drifting into summer mode…
