We saw the moon!

But only as we were walking up the track towards the promontory. It was setting, looked quite large and was an interesting colour. By the time we reached the end of the Promontory, it was all over. I didn’t see any cars in the car park so all dogs except for Obi and Minnie were eventually let off the lead and behaved as hoped. We only went to the lagoon and stayed there. The dogs raced around, even Luis, chasing each other through the boulders and water. Boris had his new flashing ball today, right from when I let him off the lead. He enjoys this ball as it’s a little smaller and lights up continuously. The previous two balls have been good for a little while becoming temperamental over time. He was dashing about amongst the rocks bringing it back immediately. That was until Oskar made off with it and lead him a merry dance all over the place. Finally, Oskar passed the ball to Charlie who continued the dance. It was light by this time so we moved on a bit until Charlie decided to bury the ball. He found it once I asked him where it was. I put them all back on their leads and we went back to the camping as it was nearly seven by then.

Tony and Ursula arrived and went to the bar for a coffee. I watched them on the CCTV as they were served and drank their coffee. I brought Oskar down with me to see how he reacted to Heidi being back. He picked up her scent immediately but their reunion was rather low-key. They settled down together and did what dogs do. Their room was not quite ready so we waited outside whilst Olivia came to make the beds and clean it. Tony busied himself by unloading the car. There was a large white box and a load of carpet tiles in the boot. What some people take with them on holiday! I’m certain Ursula will be delighted never to see them again! She started to unload some of the stores she had been collecting together in UK, France and Greece. I ate all of the Quinoa she brought when she collected Heidi and Millie so she brought loads more. As well as jam she made in France from the fruits she collected, tea also chia seeds and various other scrummy things I can add to beans or whatever of a winter evening to cook up something nutritious, quick and tasty. We will be experimenting with some Chia seeds in the morning, maybe, as she has threatened to make a fruit salad. I am soaking some chia seeds in anticipation. I understand they go nicely with fruit salad.

We went to Houmas for some lunch late afternoon and could see they’d been busy. It has been their best season ever and they have been busy all the time. There were builders working upstairs on the roof terrace so maybe there will be more restaurant space up there eventually. It has been non-stop from what we heard. Plenty of tourists as well as Greek customers. The staff and the owner are all worn out. We ordered a Greek salad without feta and I had mountain greens which consisted of lots of spinach with various other mountain greens in a tasty sauce. It was very nice indeed. They brought the traditional Cretan cake, melon and rakí to finish. Then back to the camping for a little siesta, however, Ursula was busy with sorting out her clothes and various other important tasks. We had a cup of tea later and then I put the dogs to bed.

In the morning, Heidi will be meeting the other dogs on the walk but we’ll meet up outside the camping and sort of merge them all together. Certainly, Heidi is not the same dog that was here: she sits quietly under the chair in the restaurant, ignoring all the people moving around, as well as the cat which sauntered past her on a couple of occasions. She is generally calm and reserved without making a sound. Where did Ursula find such a delightful dog?
