Maria – where is she?

I’m not sure if Maria has arrived at the camping yet but I don’t see her car or hear her voice.

I’ve just come back from reception waiting for the Swedish girls to come back from Paleochora having visited the ATM. I told them I’d come looking for them once I’d walked the dogs but then I found a missed call from an unidentified caller, so may have been them. They checked out because they have been offered three nights in a friend’s apartment somewhere nearby. They may have paid someone else and maybe no one told me. I’m not hanging around waiting for them so here I am cooking my carrots, onion and courgette.

After my weekly phone call, I adjourned to the reception as I thought there might be some arrivals. I’d only sat down a moment when a rental car pulled up outside reception with three adults and two children. Maria had warned me of their impending arrival so I showed them to their accommodation and toured the camping with them. They are an English couple with a Greek friend. The children are theirs. They are staying for two nights in T3, the only one large enough and the only one really available.

This morning we met up with the Bulgarian salt-collector who arrived on the Promontory just before us. It was light by then as we were a little late getting out. We crossed over with him as he was heading anti-clockwise around the Promontory. I had four of the dogs on leads still as I wanted to have control of them since they’ve not seen him for quite a while. He seemed pleased to see them and wasn’t much worried by Princess and Oskar barking at him. He carried on collecting his salt and I let Oskar and Pea free. I did my running and we returned to the camping.

I got a shower, having left the water heater on for half-an-hour then went into Paleochora. I hadn’t noticed the arrival of a couple of Russian cyclists and was perplexed by the presence of an alien car parked by the small gate to the beach. I later discovered some missed phone calls from Xanthippos yesterday so I gather the Russians arrived whilst I was out with the dogs. They didn’t speak much other than Russian so it didn’t really matter who tried to deal with them. As it turned out, I collected their cash once I returned from Paleochora. The car had be left by the Swedish girls as they drove a friend home then took his car to come back to the camping.

Other arrivals today included a couple of Greek girls in a rental car staying in one of the rental tents for one night. 18€ for accommodation for two isn’t bad I suppose. I suspect they are going out with some friends as they were asking what time they have to check-out in the morning.

The dogs entertained the English children as I took them past T3. The children may come out with me tomorrow evening.

It has been warm and sunny with a top temperature of 26.7C however it clouded over late afternoon. It is still 22.2C at 21:53.

My carrots must be pretty near cooked so I’d better go and do something with them.
