My other weather website is working again

I have finally managed to get my other website working again. It has not been working for some time mostly since the Meteobridge device, which records and sends out all the weather data, had a bit of a moment and I lost all its settings. I then discovered that my last backup was older than I thought and didn’t contain the most recent settings for all the various sites. I then started to tinker with the site and it all became too hard to fix. Consequently, the other weather site has not been operational for quite a few months. A pity as this site is better for people to refer to if they wish to know most of the current weather conditions, the interface is easy on the eye and there is only one screen to look at.

Here is a picture of the website and you can see it live here

I’m very glad it’s working again and even more pleased that it’s the latest version of the site complete with the additional database!

Other activities included a ride to Paleochora to buy some food. It was cooler than yesterday even though it was still over 30C on the return leg.
I had a discussion with Yannis about card machines over the Internet and the fact that they may be quicker than the dial-up he’s currently using. Also, I wasn’t sure if he is paying for a call each transaction. Cards are not used that much by Greeks as they still buy with cash. I use my card whenever possible as it helps me to keep track of my expenses.

He said they had one router in the office but there was no Internet connectivity elsewhere and the WiFi was virtually non-existent in the shop. I explained that EVEN Grammeno has one card machine which works over the Internet!

Yannis told me that they had a delivery of vegan cheese and even took me over to the chilled cabinet to show me. I bought a packet for myself and one for Ursula. It’s really quite nice and is vegan, glutin-free, non-gm, non-dairy and so on…

It was very warm again today with a high of 35.1C as opposed to yesterday’s high of 37.3C. Still quite warm for the time of the year. Clouds appeared as the day progressed and there was even a breeze when we went out with the dogs this evening.

I was tipped off by Xanthippos that there would be someone checking up on dogs walked on the Promontory. A number of people come to Grammeno to walk their dogs however I am the main culprit as I have more dogs than anyone else. There is a Swiss couple who come from Anydri with their three dogs. There are problems walking them near Anydri due to the goats. Unfortunately, there are lots of goats and sheep roaming in the mountains leaving fewer convenient dog-walking locations.

The Promontory is approaching that difficult time of year when there are people sleeping there overnight, other people collecting salt early in the morning and trippers who decided to go for a nice walk to see the sunset. The upshot is that it becomes virtually impossible to walk the dogs in the evenings unless on the lead, and more complicated too in the mornings.

To this end, we went east along the stony beach towards the dried-up river bed this evening and it might be a good idea to avoid the Promontory altogether for the next few days at least until things quieten down. In the meantime, I shall investigate alternative routes.
