Mini invasion

Having said I felt the season was over, it is still lingering on. The camping is quite busy again and most of the accommodation is let: at least until tomorrow.

Children are still being taken for weekend holidays even though they are back at school. Usually, at this time of the year, I expect to hear any language spoken other than Greek.

Our morning excursion was the same as yesterday which meant the dogs kept silent for most of the day. Even Luis until late afternoon. He had some biscuits in his bowl so declined to leave his house and join the others in the larger run. He remained there until the evening walk.

Whilst I was out in Paleochora, a visitor called complete with small dog. He explained once we eventually met up that the dog had bitten a child the previous evening and he needed to prove to the parents that the dog was healthy. I suggested a couple of vets and Olivia, who was standing nearby, gave him a phone number. The Grammeno Oracle!

After my weekly phone call, I continued to work on my lightning detector until a surprise visitor arrived. It was Roula, who I’d not seen in quite a while. She was visiting friends in the area and dropped in. She told me about an interesting visit to India where she’d attended a course with a guru. She seemed to have learned a lot and become vegetation into the bargain. I suggested she go the whole hog as did the guru. Roula was unconvinced. The guru still has some work left to do.

Ursula came bearing banana bread so we had tea. The bread was very nice and my portion simply disappeared. Needless to say, progress on the lightning detector was slow.

I walked and fed the dogs as we were well off schedule then I reheated the remainder of the yummy Ursula curry from yesterday. Ten minutes in the pressure cooker does it just fine and no drying out. If that wasn’t already enough, I had some fresh beans.

Another day done
