I seem to have acquired a small pussy

I worked out that it had rained in the night when I found the decking wet as I ventured out just after 05:00. It was dark but there was some light from the remnants of the moon struggling through the clouds. It wasn’t raining at that moment which was the main thing. We managed the Early Walk without getting wet, at least not from the direction of the sky. Some dogs decided to go paddling but that’s up to them. There was lots of flashing from the sky from the south and also from over the mountains to the north. No thunder, just lightning. I guessed that we wouldn’t get rained on as it was all in the distance. There was brief excitement at the beginning of the walk as I suspect there may be a stray of some kind which is prowling around the entrance to the Promontory.

The small cat has been around the camping for a while and has made friends with a number of the customers who have petted and fed the aforementioned. She appeared last night as I was putting the dogs to bed which was quite unhelpful as her presence created some consternation amongst the dogs. I took her some food and placed it under the sink beside the workshop. She pecked at it but that was about all. I put the food under the caravan further up the camping in the hope that the other cat might find it later. She stayed there for a few moments before following me back. I went inside leaving her outside and got on with preparing my meal.

Small pussy

After the walk, I switched on the water heaters and then went for a run over the same route as yesterday.

The same route as yesterday but with a subtle difference
6.80km – 49:05

The clouds were rapidly approaching from the south as I headed west towards Kountoura and I wondered how long it might be before it started to rain. I saw Dina parked on the corner by the poly-tunnels so took the opportunity to update her on the health of her computer. She was dropping kids at the school bus. I continued on and completed my circuit. There seemed to be more snails about and many were on the road. Not the safest place when you move at their pace.

The cat was inside the compound as I could hear her mewing as I approached. The dogs were not barking which was a bonus. She wandered around exploring the awning tent and had to be told off for clawing the floor tiles. She is now sitting patiently beside my chair. She is not interested in food this morning as I refilled the bowl under the caravan. Instead she followed me back down.

There is now plenty of thunder to the south and the sky is black overhead. According to the satellite image, there is rain about but fortunately it is choosing to pass over us and fall elsewhere, probably in the mountains. I can hear work progressing on the pipe-laying but do not know how they are progressing as I’ve not been along there for a couple of day. I’m getting cold so will go for a shower and turn off the water heaters.

Porridge for breakfast as the temperature has dropped to around 15℃ as a consequence of the wind direction changing. The forecast promised cooler weather a couple of days ago and it has now arrived. We are in one of those interesting situations where the rain is being blown over from the mountains to the north although it’s coming down nicely right now.

I went for a chat with Chris and Claire and joined them for a cup of tea in exchange for books they wished to contribute to the Grammeno ‘Library’. I then went to replace the loo paper in the ladies as Claire told me it was out in a couple of the cubicles. I hope Olivia return soon as the bins require emptying and the bathrooms are looking in need of a clean up too.

As expected, the Evening Walk was cancelled due to inclement weather. They were up for it, I was not. The Brown Dogs are all in the van tonight so Obi is having to share. Luis and Fido are very happy just that I won’t be if Fido wakes me as 03:00 to go outside – one reason why he slept outside in the first place. Oskar is in the storeroom and the others are in the decent houses so should survive any weather conditions. The older houses are fine in summer but no good in winter when it’s wet and cold. Oskar could have the former Château Boris just that, like some of the others, it requires a door.

The maximum gust today so far is 78.5km/h (48.8mph) and the rain was 8.2mm. The lowest temperature so far is 13.5C with a high of 17.4℃ (freezing cold for Crete)
