Almost full moon

Both the Moon and Venus were present this morning. The Moon having to compete unsuccessfully with some fluffy clouds. I didn’t need my torch much anyway. We walked and finished off with a trip over the rocks. Back at the camping, Ursula did her Pilates and I went for a run.

After my run and shower I went into Paleochora for some shopping otherwise breakfast would have been a little sparse. I had a quick chat with Yannis who has recently returned from his holiday in New York. I think he found it a bit of a transformaiton after life in Paleochora. He looked a little like someone who’d been on a long flight so I felt it better to let him reminisce with me at another time. He will be happy that I’ve not visited New York so he can tell me all about it.

I went to check out the two couples in the motorhomes after eating my breakfast. They are catching the ferry back to the mainland and spending a couple of days in Athens before returning to Petras for the voyage to Venice. From there, they can quite quickly return to Germany via Switzerland. They did all the usual emptying of loos and filling of water tanks before leaving. They were bathing in the sea each morning. As I pointed out, it’s a lot warmer than the Baltic!

I amused myself with some camping admin in the warm sunshine which brightened our day. The sunshine degenerated into cloudy conditions which degenerated still further to bring us another 2.8mm of rain. There was a short patter of large drops so I took in most of the dog beds which were out on the decking as well as my bedding airing on the line. Minutes later, I was fastening the tent door as the rain poured down noisily onto the roof and decking. The dogs retired into the van and I got on with playing with my servers. The rain lasted a few minutes before the cloudy sky eventually allowed the sun to reappear. There were odd drops occasionally afterwards.

We are now exceeding the 2014/2015 record of 711.5mm by some 11mm. The difference with this winter being that the rain fell gradually rather than in heavy bursts. Two records in the time I’ve been here.

Once the sun returned, I joined Ursula and Tony for some tea and oat and banana biscuits. Ursula has been working on her marketing skills so introduced them as looking like dog vomit. Despite this, they tasted very good. She is still experimenting with the oven in the same was as with the AirFryer. There were a few interesting creations initially.

We went on separate Evening Walks as Ursula wanted to get off out. I can see she has been to Anydri to be sure that the restaurant will be open for our proposed visit tomorrow. The menu blackboard promises they will be open on Friday April 19 – how convenient!

The Evening Walk was very pleasant as there was no wind just soft, evening sunshine. A lone fisherman was serenaded by Oskar as he carried his rod and bucket over to find a better spot. We returned once Luis was suitably tired and they have just hoovered up the remains from yesterday. I have some rice and spinach awaiting my attention in the Instant Pot.

Oskar may have found the chilly in the food left over from last night which I’ve just given to the dogs as part of their supper. Normally, Oskar is the first to finish but I spy a little pile of rejected vegetables close to his bowl with Charlie waiting patiently nearby to help him out.
