Officially introduced

This evening I was officially introduced to the kittens which were born a few days before I left for UK. There are three of them, one more timid than the others. The mother has been coming regularly to see me for food so I guessed the kittens were being weaned. They seemed to have no trouble eating the dried food which I put in a bowl just the other side of the fence on the northeast corner of the compound. Luis had worked himself up into a lather earlier as the kittens had been moving around in the leaf debris the other side of the compound fence. It’s not difficult for Luis to get worked up at the best of times so the movement and the mewing was more than he could bear. I ended up putting Luis inside the van due to the racket he was making. The kittens seem to associate my with the delivery of food so it’s lucky I purchased additional supplies at the supermarket this morning.

I was awake well before the alarm so set off for the loo and then the water heater. Cat fed on the way back as she wasn’t outside the gate. Maybe she sleeps in on a Sunday.

We followed Ursula onto the Promontory but beat her to the end. I took Skinny, Obi and Fido on a circuit of the Promontory before handing over the Brown Dogs to Ursula. Skinny and I then had a quicker trip round accompanied part-way by Luis, Charlie and Oskar. Luis disappeared but then reappeared again when I went looking for him.

Ursula threw Luis’ ball and Fido and Skinny were let off the lead for the last twenty minutes or so. We did the usual biscuits before returning to the camping. I ran and collected the pastry while Ursula did her Pilates on the decking assisted by Obi. The others were inside as usual and Skinny in his run.

I showered then set off for Paleochora in the car as I could not face the road by bike. I’m sure it will be lovely when it’s all finished but at present, it’s a slalom of dust and potholes interspersed with some tarmac in parts. I went down to see the cute puppies at the PAWS puppy village then returned to Grammeno for some breakfast.

The period between breakfast and tea consisted of some Web investigation, some IT maintenance and some resting in the sun. It was cooler and windier today so less inviting on the snoozing front although I managed anyway.

Ursula and Tony went out for a meal and then I joined them later for some tea and stewed fruit with ‘Sprinkles’. An extremely pleasant combination of apple, pear and other fruits with cinnamon, lemon and orange. All with sprinkles on the top. Very healthy and nourishing.

After tea, I had my kitten encounter then set off for the Promontory on my own as Ursula is having a bad leg day so felt she was unable to make the Evening Walk which turned out to be good fun. Fido and Luis raced after their respective balls, Skinny was a little disinterested in the ball and more interested in playing with Charlie. Whether the feeling was mutual was another matter. We are getting better at biscuits and are more organised at getting back on the lead. I take Skinny’s prong collar off as he plays more vigorously than Oskar who keeps his on while we’re out. Skinny seems ok having it put on and it definitely makes a huge difference of the safety and pleasure of the walk.

Some rice is cooking in the Instant Pot and I’m about to add some spinach for the last couple of minutes then munchies followed by bed.
