No alarms!

I did wake up a couple of times in the night but that was for other reasons.

We were out a little earlier than usual and had a modified Early Walk. We did only three circuits of the Promontory and then went home. After that, I took SBD and Skinny out again and did another circuit. I thought this would give all the dogs a reasonable amount of exercise. Luis and Oskar only join in for the fourth circuit and Fido and Obi are usually pretty tired at then end of the third, especially when it’s hot. I took Skinny and Obi our for the first, then added Charlie and Fido taking Oskar and Luis on the final one. I was out about 2 hours with the first lot and a further forty-five minutes with the second. Then Skinny and I went for a run. In many ways, it was better all round as we were all done and dusted earlier when it was cooler.

I went in the sea which was quite interesting as there were waves from the south. The sea has been generally calm so far. The waves have piled the sand up on the beach and dug a trench for unwary bathers to fall into. I could hear the sea was a bit rougher so knew what to expect. I could have walked round to the Big Beach but felt it might be more fun to play in the waves. As I walked back, I found a dead fish lying in the surf. It had been injured so had died. I took it back for the cats. I later presented it to the mother who looked at it, sniffed it, then asked for some food from the container. Maybe her kittens will be more enthusiastic.

The neighbours went out quite early: they were preparing to leave around 06:30. Shortly after, I heard the sound of powerful motorcycles starting up. Even a couple of the French kids were moving about as Skinny and I came back from our run.

Much of my morning has been taken up with Annette’s computer. I recently upgraded her version of Windows so that it would be able to run a Virtual Machine. My next task was to install software to be able to run the VM. It was necessary to change some settings that I was unable to do remotely so I sent instructions to Annette of how to do it. I was sure it wouldn’t be long before I received a phone call for help. As it turned out, she managed to make the required changes after a couple of false starts. The computer is currently updating itself to the latest version of Windows. I have to put together the VM, upload it to her computer then set it up for her to use. Then she can finish off writing her book.

I wandered to the office to see if my laptop battery might have arrived. Maria wasn’t in the office but it would appear that she now has an assistant! A nice enough chap who I met last week. The office isn’t a very exciting place especially when it’s quiet. The battery hadn’t arrived.

The dogs are patiently waiting for me to take them out. A man and his young son from one of the nearby enhanced cabins were playing ball in front of Janne and Erica’s caravan. Oskar was having none of that so barking whenever they came too close to our fence or went into Janne and Erica’s area to retrieve their ball. I didn’t try too hard to stop Oskar from barking although he was quite restrained for him. The couple eventually wandered off to play elsewhere. Well done Oskar!

I’d better go walk these dogs. Dogs are now walked and fed. One is in his compound and three are tied up so it’s quiet despite the occasional Froggy outburst from by the kitchen. They are hanging around waiting for their food to be ready. I wandered over to the washing machine to find it still running at 21:00. I wanted to put my washing in so that I could hang it up before I went to bed. I’ll take it out in the morning when I get up and it’ll dry soon enough.

My sweetcorn is cooking and then there are some lentils to go in. I should have been better organised and cooked the lentils first! The neighbours are playing rock on some small speakers so it sounds very trebly. They been out all day so have been no bother to me.
