Silly season now over

The group finally left last night around 22:30 for the restaurant and the bar. The music began soon after and stopped shortly before I came back with the dogs around 06:45 today.

We had a good Early Walk albeit rather windy. Yesterday, it seems, was the last of the moon which I saw just above the dawn horizon. There was little moon left but it looked very beautiful until the dawn light eventually washed it away. We didn’t do as much walking as yesterday. The tent was still by the Big Rock and some more people arrived, possibly escapees from Grammeno bar. The music wafted down the Promontory with the northerly wind. We came back and I got on with some work on my computer. Some of the dogs were in and others out. It just felt much calmer than for a long time.

The group has now left, making the camping a calmer place. No more little enclaves of meetings in random locations. No more noisy sessions on the other side of the fence. Hurrah!

I took my bandage and splint off this morning as it had become quite uncomfortable, especially yesterday evening and night. The bandage holding the splint was too tight as it had indented the skin on my arm. I rolled up the bandages and redistributed the gauze under the splint. Then, using only one bandage together with only two pieces of tape, I rebandaged my hand. If anything, the splint is a little loose, but I can live with that. I ordered a supportive brace from a medical appliance company which I’ve just been notified has been shipped today. Hopefully, it will arrive next week at which point I may probably abandon this cumbersome arrangement. I’ll wear the new splint full time for a week or so then only at night or when working with the dogs. The remainder of the time, my hand can get used to a little sunlight and some gentle reeducation and I can use the splint when it gets tired. It will mean I can shower more comfortably and even consider the possibility of venturing into the sea! I don’t plan to rush things. The wound is all healed up so it’s really only the tendon. I must accept the fact the hand will not be that good for the remainder of the year.

I recall having one of these for another of my various hand injuries.

I’ve passed much of the day playing with Inter Sport’s servers. Tidying up and progressing the upgrade which began back in the mists of time. I got very bored with it at one point, they didn’t appear to be in much of a hurry, so I left it a while. There was a bit of excitement this afternoon when the Lewes store lost Internet connection at the same time as I was trying to restore some data from backup. It was all over and done within thirty minutes so I was able to do my stuff and take the dogs for their walk.

Only a short one this evening as it was getting dark and it was windy. They were crazy due to the wind and other dogs had been around recently so there were plenty of scents for them to fight over.

I visited Sascha and Zora after my shower earlier and ate lots of bean salad. We chatted for a while interrupted only by Xanthippos who’d come to say hello to Sascha. Sascha’s decided he needs to sort out the area of his new domain under the road. It was the first thing I noticed when I visited the site. Janne and I came to the same conclusion too. Now that the site’s clear of plant material it’s apparent the road will need retaining particularly if we have a winter similar to the last and as the caravan will be directly beneath. Coming back to find most of the road on your van could be fairly annoying. Unlike Grammeno, Sascha is safe from tsunami but not immune to flooding from above. There is plenty of evidence of that all around.

The wind is getting up so I plan to zip up the west end of the awning tent and possibly take down the sunblocker as it will be windy for the next couple of days.

It’s nice that the camping is now quieter. Most of the customers are on the other side of the path or nearer to the beach which suits me fine. Janne and Erica will be here in two weeks.

Skinny is amusing himself trying to pull Oskar’s head off. None of the dogs are confined this evening as there are no close neighbours for a change.
