Ursula, Tony and Heidi depart

I hadn’t noticed until I went out that it had rained in the night, around 12mm which fell just before midnight. Skinny had decided to join us inside for the first time in a while meanwhile Obi continued to sleep in solitude outside under the canopy on the blankets. Be assured, he was offered the opportunity to come in but declined.

We were out on the Promontory just after Ursula and Heidi. It was a wonderful morning with a mostly clear sky and lots to see. The temperature was 15℃ so quite chilly by comparison to recent days. I was even wearing a hat! We completed our walks, chatted a while then I took the dogs over the rocks to the collection point. Then it was back to the camping for the final bakery run of 2019. Today’s delight was cheese, ham and tomato.

I went for a shower in one of the converted WC cubicles and was surprised that there was very little pressure and the water was only warm. Later investigation of the men’s bathroom revealed a hot tap in one of the shower mixers had been left on full. All my carefully heated water down the drain! The previous evening, I’d done the rounds once I found the water was back on to check that taps had not been left on. That tap was running all night at full bore! I keep saying that pushbutton taps would save a lot of water but and then told they cost too much money…

I had some breakfast and got on with some IT tasks – Terry’s laptop being one. Georgia came to supervise some jobs in her house and gave me the password to the camping’s mobile. She told me she’d just made a payment of some €2,500 to have a water boiler installed for the main bathroom. She says she would get another for the other buildings too.

Ursula and Tony were continuing their clearing up and packing. I moved some items back up to the storeroom once they were ready. It seems not long ago that they were going the other way. Considering how late it was in October and November, they’ve done extremely well for the weather. Even I went in the sea!

Peter and I cleaned out the last display refrigerator and threw out most of what had been left behind by various customers. He bagged some beers and I took some potatoes and a tin of tomatoes. I’ve activated the fridge/freezer which I feel uses much less electricity whilst providing somewhere for me to store frozen food. My fridge has only a very small freezer compartment.

Ursula, having finally packed the car, went to have a shower before visiting me to cut my hair and say goodbye to the dogs. Heidi saw her brothers before being packed up in her place in the car. We said our goodbyes and off they set to Petrakis for some last-minute items and thence to Souda Bay and the Anek ferry to Piraeus. I had a shower to get rid of the hair and to make up for the poor effort this morning. Now there is only Peter and me together with the Swiss couple in their van. Perhaps we’ll have some arrivals tomorrow.

It was soon time for the Evening Walk which ended in darkness as we were delayed by a support phone call. We managed to walk over the rocks anyway. The dogs are now fed and we’re still sitting outside however I think it will be a little too chilly to stay out all evening.
