Windy night – no beans involved!

The wind kept blowing most of the night and was still going strong at morning walk time. It was with some reluctance that I got out of bed and dressed but could find no valid reason not to do so. As it turned out, it was a very pleasant walk since the greenery on the Promontory shielded us from most of the wind. Getting there and back again was a challenge but we managed. Our intrepid fisherman arrived as we were embarking on our final circuit. There was considerably less barking than previously and, even though he’s a man with a stick, AKA fishing rod, he is now perceived as mostly harmless. We crossed the rocks later so met up again but only the dyed-in-the-wool, traditional barkers managed a short chorus before joining the others looking for interesting smells all around. We went for biscuits and then back to the camping.

We were all quite pleased to get inside the van especially as I’d inadvertently left the heater on low all night! It was therefore very pleasant. I made tea, watered the dogs, fed Isabella and all the cats then came back in again to fiddle with the Raspberry Pi.

It was late by the time my breakfast was cooked as I seem to have lost track of time. I spent a bit of time progressing my battery bank and putting on all the balancers and the BMS (Battery Management System) There are loads of wires involved so it required some thought on how to lay everything out so that it didn’t all revert to a bird’s nest. I’ve got this far.

It’s reasonably tidy so far which is the way I’d prefer to keep it.

Manolis called to collect the key to D1 where his man will reside for the weekend as they have come to work on his new setup. Apparently, Antonis might be coming tomorrow to continue with the metal frame of the room they are constructing adjacent to the caravan. Antonis has also extended the decking to provide a larger area for sitting during the summer as well as a level path between the room, caravan and kitchen. It’s all taking shape.

Manolis’ former location is now clear and had a truck delivering concrete there this morning. There are currently two guys there levelling and smoothing the concrete for the floor covering to be laid later. I understand there is going to be a softer covering and the remainder tiles. That was the plan when I discussed it with Georgia before Christmas.

I went for an afternoon bike ride as the wind had moderated and the sun was shining. A quick 10km ride up a mountain then down to Krios helped to wipe 900+KJ from my Move Ring. I would have struggled if I’d relied on the Evening Walk to do the job.

It was almost calm when we went for the walk. It was sunny and very pleasant. The return was complicated by the arrival of The Rug, AKA the large soppy German Shepheard which belongs to the guy above Kountoura. She comes to visit when she gets bored and had been lurking around earlier. She was standing in the road between us and the gate to the field and appeared unexpectedly. There was a lot of din so I did nothing other than let them get on with it. Finally, there was no point in barking any longer so they all shut up. The main ‘gateway’ to the filed had been left open, presumably to allow the sheep to wander off (!) so we went in that way. She followed us then went ahead and into the compound. I simply attached the dogs to the fence and let her out the other side and into the camping. She is no threat to anyone other than she might dribble on you as she’s so soppy. She is huge but probably mostly fluff.

I managed to actually prepare my food before going on the walk so it’s waiting in the Pot. The dogs are fed and now it’s my turn!
