First meal

It was windless but chilly as seven dogs headed out across the field as Isabella was found to be amongst the pack when we reached the road. She was comfortably in my chair as we left but the gate was left open so she took the opportunity to walk with everyone else. The first wave covered around 3km at which point we returned as I didn’t wish to stress her seeing as she’d not eaten for over a week! She returned to the chair and fell asleep.

Skinny and I went out again but Skinny made an extremely poor show at returning at the end. It was only after I’d returned from my ride to Krios via the mountains, that he was to be found the other side of the fence. He followed me back in when I came round to pick him up and had another run-in with the nursing cat before going back inside the compound.

I prepared some rice for Isabella and all the dogs and put it in with my breakfast to cook. Two birds and all that. I opened up the small cabins as the weather was ideal for chasing away the winter must.

I adjourned to the chair next door and had some 121 time with the pussies then embarked on my breakfast. Later, I fed some of the rice to Isabella and all of the dogs. She ate some but in the general mêlée, it was difficult to keep track of what she had eaten as they seemed to be changing bowls like a couple at a wife-swapping event. I’m thinking of moving all the dogs back to two meals a day as I think it will be beneficial for them to get two smaller meals.

It was time for my weekly phone call which proceeded as usual.

I spent a very lazy afternoon which included more rice and chicken preparation as well as a few more circuits of the camping to help my monthly challenge along. I’m supposed to complete 3,600 minutes of exercise this month and have managed only 1,995 so far which leaves 123 minutes per day for the remainder of the month. If I go on a circular ride via Sklavopoula a couple of times I can make some headway, otherwise, it’s quite hard to keep up with the daily requirement.

I showered after my cycle and came back to deal with the rice and chicken. The smell of cooked chicken caught the attention of the assembled masses so it was difficult to try to explain that it wasn’t for them. The bones and dross went to the nursing mother and her kittens. The meat to its intended recipient and the juice was poured over the biscuits of the masses. Isabella was given her food inside the van at the same time as the others received theirs. She ate most of it leaving a little rice at the bottom of her bowl. She ate at a leisured pace and has, so far, kept it down despite not having the anti-puke jab today. I gave her the antibiotics but held back on the other as she seems to hate it being injected.

Today has been mostly sunny and quite warm with a top temperature of 23.2℃ at 15:40. It was chilly this morning as it was around 9.4℃ as we returned from our walk at 05:45. My hands were quite cold after the Skinny Walk and my cycle ride to Krios despite the bike battery being on its last legs meaning I rode without assistance for nearly all of the return leg from Krios. It’s a heavy bike with big, fat tyres which is hard work without assistance.

I need to shut up the small cabins before dark and then eat my supper which is almost ready.
