Dental visit III

I wanted to get ahead of the game so we were out and about promptly and back by 06:20. I had time for a shower before leaving for Paleochora for my first trip which was to Petrakis for some groceries. I could have been back earlier but I was chatting to Lau’s friend as we waited for a truck to be loaded in the roadworks. The diversion is a bit of a pain so worth avoiding. In the end, we took a shortcut through the grounds of a hotel to avoid the roadworks. I was back at the camping by 08:20 so concentrated on feeding the dogs and doing a few small jobs before setting off for my second visit to Paleochora and the dentist. He was running to time however I was early so entertained myself by reading my emails and The Times. I showed the dentist an amusing picture of the Cerne Abbas Giant with an added mask.

He looked at my tooth and decided he could fill it so went off for his helmet with a lamp on. My tooth and right-side of my mouth was numbed so he started drilling out the cavity and preparing it to be filled. They have clever materials now so fix virtually anything. A large truck drew up outside the surgery and offloaded the filling required to fix my tooth. It’s a big hole! I’m told it could do with a root canal and a crown and, at €250, it’s not expensive. My last root-canal was to cost £650 but I elected to have the tooth extracted instead.

Back at the camping, the dogs were making a racket as I heard as I approached. I’d passed Xanthippos on the road and he was giving someone a lift on his bike and concluding some shady deal or other. I had a support request and my breakfast wasn’t ready, so I ended up eating near lunchtime. I’ve had three support requests today from different clients so have been rather busy. My face came back to me after about five hours or so.

The day has been warm so the dogs have snoozed since my return. I found some time for me to snooze as well. I was a little late at preparing the doggy supper so time has rather escaped me today.

Meanwhile, Luis is playing with Skinny on the decking with Isabella and Obi looking on. The others are cleaning the inside of tonight’s empty meat tin. I’ve noticed that since the dogs are having vegetables, boiled rice and so on, they drink a lot less water. The rice certainly contains a great deal of water so it keeps them hydrated as well as makes them feel full up after their meal.

I feel quite tired but then I walked over 7km and cycled to Paleochora and back twice. I’m not sure I’ll be late to bed after I eventually get something to eat. I might even feel hungry by then too!
