Is summer on the way?

There was no stillness on our walk this morning so I was wondering if I might find myself a little under-dressed as I was wearing only a polo shirt and thin fleece on top but still heavy shorts. As it turned out, the westerly wind was persistent and cool but not too cold. We completed our activities as we did yesterday with Charlie being the last one back and Oskar racing in just before him. The return leg was rather slow but we finally made it back to the camping passing the Czech van which has returned to its former position. Full moon is tomorrow so it was light enough not to require any extra illumination once all the dogs were fastened up.

Once back, I fed the cats who were waiting patiently in their run and their mother even joined them on the fence as she’s not happy about coming into the compound. The literal interpretation of ‘sitting on the fence’.

Looking sternly at her progeny.
Breakfast el fresco

I went off on my bike for an uneventful trip to Krios via the mountain. The morning was bright and blustery so nothing like as pleasant as yesterday. There seemed to be hardly anyone about and I was back in the camping by 08:00.

I’d not weighed the dogs since before their Leisguard course so dragged out the scales to discover that, without exception, all have gained a little weight. Even Isabella, despite her weight loss during her illness, weighs more than she did a couple of months ago. She still has a way to go to finally see off her ribbiness but she looks a lot better than she was a couple of weeks back. Skinny, I feel, has reached his target weight of around 19kg. He is still certainly not fat but has a good covering without displaying any ribs. I appear to weigh 65kg. I know this as I have to subtract my weight to work out the weight of each dog.

Their breakfast followed then so did mine once I’d prepared and cooked it.

Much of the middle of the day was taken up with the Grammeno Business Website as I’d removed most of the content when Georgia said she wanted to take control of it. Strangely, all the previous setting appear to have mysteriously reverted to how they were before I changed them and it seems I am the de facto site controller again. I added some blurb about the COVID requirements and that the camping will reopen on 1 June. I updated and fiddled with much of the previous content which I’d saved when I cleared the site. It will be interesting if any of this material finds its way to the main website.

It was soon time to deal with Doggy Dinners and then a trip to the showers in the main block as these are the only ones currently operational. They are very dirty due to all the strimmer activity and associated dust which blows in via the glassless windows. There is also a plumbing leak which is causing a fine spray of water leading to a lovely muddy floor nearby. Only one shower is still working and that has a door which doesn’t lock. I can see there is going to be a big panic to get everything up together before the camping opens.

Manolis and Michalis were working on the bar this morning meanwhile the ‘Albanians’ were still raking and removing stones from the pitches. The camping is looking quite presentable again. Georgia tells me she will return with a new display fridge for the kitchen to replace the horrid one which has virtually nothing to recommend it and consumes loads of electricity. I notice all the lights in the New Room are LED so someone has made a decision to save some electricity. I converted all of my lights over to LED in 2012!

Bona and her husband have arrived, without associated children and dogs, to do some painting in one of the bedrooms. Bona has probably gone to look at the wreckage which was the bathrooms and kitchen. Everything is in dire need of cleaning due to all the disruption from decorating and dust from the strimmers. Her hubby makes a good job of decorating and actually keeps the paint on the work which is quite a departure from tradition. Then again, he’s Albanian…

I have an interesting concoction involving spinach in The Pot. Luis and Fido are occupying a couple of blankets near by and Skinny is under my chair where he seems to spend quite a bit of his time. The nights, he prefers to spend inside the van. The others are probably in the van however Isabella is rooting around in the SDC probably feasting on carob pods which she seems to enjoy.
