Mickey and the pussy

The night was quite chill, relatively speaking that is. I had to reach for a blanket at one point. I knew it would be chilly as water was dripping from the awning roof before bedtime. Warm, humid air meets cooler surface and all that Physics stuff to do with condensation. Luis joined us on the Early Walk this morning so our progress was not quite so rapid as the previous couple of days. I let Luis follow at his own pace eventually so we could get on. He stayed with us and caught up each time there was any delay of some sort. I left the slower group then took Skinny and Isabella off for a couple more circuits including the rocks. We headed back with Luis making his own way for the sake of the others.

I went up the mountain a little way and then down to Krios before coming back to the camping. Gregor was painting the rubbish bin enclosure with some of the paint delivered a couple of days ago. I was kept busy petting the dogs.

Back at Grammeno, I carried the seven solar panels out of the storeroom where they’ve been gathering dust since last August. The hope was that Antonis would be progressing it this evening but contacted me to say he’d been stricken with heatstroke so would come tomorrow. The panels are stacked neatly on the decking ready to go. If it gets windy I’ll need to strap them down.

Neatly stacked solar panels

A large concrete delivery vehicle (a vehicle delivering concrete) came into the camping as I was walking back and forth. It appeared to be delivering a significant amount of concrete to Georgia’s residence. Maybe she’s having a nuclear shelter constructed. Or it could be something to do with the foundations being washed away by all the water during the winter.

After the dusty panel game I went for a shower and washed my shorts whilst there. Lucky I did because the Road Technicians have been at it again and the water was off for most of the day. Luckily, due to previous incidents, I filled up all the water bowls and kettle before the water stoppage. It’s back now so I was able to do the washing up from breakfast. This was late anyway due to moving the panels and a lack of motivation on my part. It was getting warm and I’d eaten quite a lot the previous evening anyway. It was another brunch around 12:30.

I dealt with a few support calls and other such things including a support claim for Matthew as he’s not been able to work for weeks. The laptop thrust at me by Georgia has been sitting gathering dust since she gave it to me. She asked after it today so I had to spring into action. I have a feeling she might be going back to Chania quite soon. So long as she takes Mickey…

A bout of barking from without brought all the dogs to the gate to bark at Mickey. He was barking at the stack of furniture piled up opposite the storeroom at the end of the last season and never covered. Had the storeroom been properly organised, all that stuff would easily have gone in. The way it was all bunged in there no chance. I went to investigate the Mickey barking event to find the young female cat lying casually on top of the stack of outside furniture. Mickey, in the meantime, was concentrating on looking for her down below. I left Mickey to it as she’s perfectly capable of fending off a single dog. She managed to get away from this lot so has a strong survival instinct.

A clattering from the other side of the fence may mark the departure of Georgia which might account for interest in the laptop earlier.

The maximum temperature today is 32.7℃ making it the hottest day of the year so far and accounts for the people enjoying the beach and the sea. Many dogs are inside but might prefer to be outside but it suits my purpose for them to remain within. I’m waiting for the Pot of depressurise so I can put my broccoli in then I can eat it all up! Some lovely broccoli purchased during yesterday’s shopping expedition.
