First freeloaders of the year

It was a little cooler this morning and Luis joined in only on the second walk with Skinny and Isabella. We didn’t walk quite so far as things were complicated due to bodies on the Big Beach who were presumably fishing. There were bodies also on Alonáki Beach who were definitely fishing. I made a route change to avoid the Big Beach Bodies so our routine was disturbed to a certain extent. I took them all back at the end of the 3rd circuit, fed the cats and added Luis to the second group.

The four of us set off and had some fun. Luis ran after his ball obstructed by Isabella. Skinny, who was tied to a rock, looked on and feigned interest in the ball whenever it passed close by. I didn’t want to wear Luis out as it was getting warmer, so we walked over the rocks then back to the camping.

I set off for Paleochora on my bike and arrived outside Petrakis around 07:30. I could see activity within so knew it was open. My next stop was the puppies at the PAWS Village for a little tummy rubbing and general petting. They were pleased to see me when they came running up to greet me. Even the older dogs showed more interest than the last time.

I rode through DownTown Paleochora towards Anydri and rode up to the School Restaurant which has yet to emerge from its winter and CoVID-induced inactivity.

I don’t think it will be open for service today

I continued on a little way but turned back for the nice ride down the gorge and back to Petrakis for a little light shopping. The plan was to pick up the heavy stuff today then go in tomorrow when the fresh produce arrives first thing on a Monday. I had a good load in my bag on the return journey.

I saw an object in the road on the way back so turned around to take another look. A phone must have fallen from a car or a cyclist’s pocket as I found the phone body and battery by the roadside. The phone is a little scuffed as is the battery but it’s still operational.

Back at the camping, I put the frozen dog chicken in the main freezer then went to let the dogs out and make breakfast. I produced the Doggy Dinners at the same time so they could cook whilst the sun is out as I’m trying to get organised!

I drifted off whilst waiting for my breakfast to cook and woke up just as it was ready. The post-breakfast morning was relaxing with a little excursion to the HMRC website to put in a CoVID-claim for Matthew.

Little else has happened other than general rest and relaxation.

1:34:49 including stops to pet puppies and shopping. 235m elevation gain. 1,922Kj expended over 22.59km

The Doggy Dinners are cooling in a large stainless steel pot on the table behind me. Together with cooking-animal smells from elsewhere, the dogs are beginning to get energised. Each time my chair makes a sound, they leap to their feet in anticipation.

My supper is cooking in The Pot and I can feel that the Doggy dinners have cooled down sufficiently for them to be eaten. I’d prefer the sun to go down behind the storeroom as it’s still 34.2℃ under the awning. The top temperature for today is 37.8℃ making it 1℃ cooler than yesterday. From here, top temperatures will fall reaching a low of 21℃ on Thursday and Friday with even the possibility of a little moisture from above!

The fag-end of Sunday approaches. The dogs have enjoyed their supper if the cleanliness of the bowls is anything to go by. If the bowls are not collected up quickly Charlie takes them off to various and diverse locations for special attention so I have to seek them out and collect them. Charlie can be quite creative with his chosen locations.
