All out twice

Maria came to tell me around 21:00 that it was Georgia’s birthday celebration down at the restaurant in half-an-hour or so. I’d just had a meal so sat down in my chair for a while. It was 01:15 when I woke up and I could hear the party was still going strong. I opted to go to bed as it was cooler and my hammock was beckoning to me.

I slept until 04:00 when the elephants began clomping around on the decking. They were not making much noise and wearing each other out so I reckoned it was a good thing. By 04:20 I was up and tethering Skinny up opposite the gate into the field.

By morning, the temperature had dropped as low as 22.8℃ a welcome change. The first walk was quite vigorous: the others were parked to keep an eye on Kostas who was collecting salt amongst the rocks. I feel certain he was pleased to have Luis and Oskar singing to him for a while.

We headed back through the deserted Promontory – Saturday and no FreeLoaders! Is it 1 August or November already?

I looked down the beach road and could see only one French motorhome so elected to take all of the dogs down the beaches to the end. I now have three collars for seven dogs so kept Skinny and Obi on the lead all the time with a collar for Isabella, Oskar and Charlie. Luis and Fido are quite compliant as Luis is afraid of being left behind and Fido is mostly cooperative anyway.

We walked down almost to the end with Isabella spoilt for choice as to who to play with. Charlie took a bit of incoming and I had to put a stop to things when Luis and Isabella joined forces against him as I could see Charlie wasn’t finding it fun. Oskar will let her know once he’s had enough however she pushes Charlie more.

As we were heading back, a couple who live in the Plakaki Hotel were parking their pickup in order to feed their goats which are on the other side of the road. None of the dogs was interested in the couple as they watched us fils past. Back at the camping, I put all but Charlie and Isabella inside and went for a swim.

Like last Saturday, it has been a hot day so I took a prolonged, thirty-minute swim. I hoped this would set me up for the day as well as help close my Move Circle. I didn’t really fancy riding my bike preferring to Elevate my brain and have a cup of tea. The swim was good but the sea still needs an iron and today the wind was from the southwest!

After a hosepipe shower, I made breakfast and fed dogs before having a sit-down. Sitting down first is never a good idea. My breakfast was ready when I awoke – the wonder of an Instant Pot!

It was soon time for my weekly phone home which was a little disjointed due to technical difficulties at the Lewes end. I used the pause to make up the Doggy Dinners which was a useful diversion. Our conversation continued a little but the local static made it impossible to continue so we called it a day. It was one of those days…

Charlie feeling ‘tyred’… One can understand why I don’t try to grow flowers in there anymore.

The day was the hottest of the year with a high of 41.3℃ some 19℃ hotter than the start of the day! The dogs slept and I didn’t do much either. Just one support activity to back up one of the EG websites before some potentially destructive changes tomorrow.

The elephants have been playing outside on the decking as it’s now only 35℃ so a little cooler. It’s 19:30 so I shall prepare a salad and amuse myself until bedtime.
