Thinned out

I made sure that Fido went for a wee and any other activity he wished to perform before I went to my hammock. Some noisy dogs nearby woke me up so I ended getting out of my hammock anyway, as one does. The alarm was the next interruption.

Only one car was in the car park and we never found the owner. Kostas was not there so we probably had the place to ourselves. Obi opted out of the last circuit so I tied him to a bush as leaving him tied up with the others might not be a marvellous idea.

It was getting light as we walked along the track towards the river. A small dog barked at us as we passed a caravan by the beach and another small dog came out further down. The second obviously had no idea what he was getting into.

VGD was moving around but that was about it so we walked on by up the track to our usual turning point and then back down the river bed. No sign of BullDozer Man or his equipment but a pickup came up the track above us and might well have been the guy who I spoke to a month ago.

For the first time since getting their flea treatment, we came back via the beach but only Isabella went for a paddle once she was done with chasing some seabirds.

I deposited the dogs than set off for Paleochora to get some groceries as I had no chicken portions for the DDs and picked up some other items whilst there. Much of the fruit is still good although some has come to the end. There were no plums today, sadly. The trip there and back was easy as there was little wind.

I put the frozen chicken in the communal freezer then went down to the sea for twenty minutes. There were some waves as there was a slight breeze. Aris arrived with his dog, got in, swam around and got out again all in the time it took me to swim to the shore and get out.

I had a quick hosepipe shower after I’d released the dogs then got on with making breakfast and feeding the dogs. I think I might have drifted off as my breakfast was ready and waiting when I woke up.

The day has been more relaxing than Sunday as there was only one support enquiry as it’s a UK Holiday. Australia is not having a holiday or Barbara is not at least.

Luis was taken for a dunking in the sea on the Alonáki side as I don’t want dogs on Grammeno Beach during the season.

I prepared the DDs which are now cooked and cooling in a big vat with tomorrow’s in a plastic container.

The communal fridge was a lot emptier since the last time I looked as is the camping. My nearest neighbour is now even further away so I can afford to be even more relaxed about noise and doggy activity.

There were few tents in the lower part of the camping and the section near the restaurant kitchen is deserted except for one tent. Some tents are rental anyway. The wooden cabins are still occupied and there are still children about. The government will decide whether to open schools next week which will also have an impact.

There’s talk of extending stricter COVID regulations to the entire country. These include a curfew on clubs, bars and restaurants between 00:00 and 07:00 although takeaways can still operate during those times. The other regulations are to do with masks and group sizes and no mass events obviously. None of that really interests me as I already wear a mask in the supermarket and I can’t think of when I last ate out. I’m usually asleep by 22:30 anyway.

The DDs are now a thing of the past and Luis is enjoying a little freedom from his bark collar which I removed when I took him into the sea earlier.

The top temperature is 33.9℃ and the low 10.8℃ lower at 04:30 just as I was getting up. The forecast is for it to be a couple of degrees warmer tomorrow and than back to the low thirties for the foreseeable future. Soon the evenings will become cooler as will the nights which won’t be a bad thing.

Today I completed my August Challenge which was to burn a whole load of kJ which I didn’t think I would achieve. Swapping swimming for cycling helped as, otherwise, it would have been difficult to do when it’s so hot. I also managed the National Parks Challenge which was easy-peasy and all done-and-dusted by the end of the first walk!

There was a brief burst on activity from the Elephants who are now both panting as it’s been fairly windless and quite humid.

It seems we’ve almost reached the end of another day which is my goal every morning when I wake up. Keep it simple: one day at a time!
