Obi first back!

It was nearly 05:30 by the time I got the troops into some kind of order. Not that it was their fault just that there’s quite a bit to do. All those leads and collars to fit, Charlie to extract from one of the houses and then the bottom hinge of the gate broke. It’s done very well considering the use it gets.

We performed the two circuits of the Promontory and set off for the river walk. VGD was nowhere to be seen: we just heard one single woof from somewhere within. I think yesterday he must have broken away from his tether.

Skinny was released earlier and behaved nicely. The river was positively flowing and making burbling stream noises. It’s not a river at this point, just a small stream. We need loads of heavy rain for the river to flow across the full width of the valley.

I decided to let Obi off the lead on the south side of the road bridge so he immediately disappeared up the river bank and out of sight. His collar is paired with the 1,200m controller so he received a few vibrates and then I heard a couple of yelps as I upped the volume. He came back pretty quickly and ended up as the first to go back into the compound and inside the van. Good for Obi! Long may it last.

I took Isabella and Charlie for a short walk on the Promontory mainly to wear out Isabella with the ball. She’s too aggressive with Charlie as they have different ideas as to what constitutes play. Charlie took himself off for a while and I was very firm with Isabella about leaving him alone when he came back. We were out only long enough to wear out Isabella.

My next activity was a swim which lasted around twenty minutes. The sea was a little lumpy and there was a bit of wind so I didn’t fancy hanging around for too long. I took a hot shower on my way up.

Then there was breakfast for the dogs and myself and a visit to the neighbours to hand over the money to give to Stavros for the meds he sent a while ago. They were in no hurry so agreed to go to Chania via Máleme.

It’s been quite a busy day with a call from some new German customers as well as a few support calls. Mostly to do with EG’s website. I was arranging for Pablo, the researcher who sent the report about the website vulnerabilities to fix them. The longterm plan might be to retain him to deal with site security.

Maria is leaving today so I needed to have a handover with her. She will be going to Rhodes and then doesn’t know what she will do after that. She said she might come back to Grammeno but I told her the rooms are very cold in winter!

Janne and Erica set off for Chania where they will stay the night in a hotel. Janne will catch his flight in the morning and Erica will return on the bus later in the day. I will be inundated with cats as they have amassed quite a following. What will happen once they leave, we’ll worry about at the time.

I understand from Maria that Xanthippos will not be working at Grammeno this winter and that Tony will look after the dogs so will be coming in each day. I’m sure Xanthippos will find some other work and my life will be much easier too!

I have yet another corn of the cob in the Pot as they are so good at present. The Doggy Dinners are ready to go but the dogs are wonderfully quiet so I’ll let sleeping dogs lie!
