They keep coming

I wasn’t late to bed so got a good night’s sleep to awake refreshed and invigorated. The morning walks went according to plan but included an incident with a cat as we neared the river. The cat wouldn’t let go and kept coming back for more, even going so far as to attack the dogs! Had I have let he dogs off the lead, it might have been different.

Skinny and Obi were let off the earlier still and both were present at the end. Skinny trailed behind at one point and I thought I might have mislaid him up the mountain somewhere. It comes from taking your eye off the ball. I pressed a few buttons on my remote and he appeared as if by magic. He now knows that I have very long arms!

Isabella went swimming as in completely into the water, feet off the ground job. The others pottered around the beach. I spied a woman with a couple of dogs and a sleeping maggot further up so, by means of my technology, I was able to herd the dogs onto the road in some semblance of order without them racing off to terrorise the woman with dogs.

I’d planned to go swimming but then got bogged down with a no Internet situation which I eventually traced to a fault with the telephone service. Georgia reported the matter to OTE who replied that it was affecting the entire area and should be fixed on Monday.

The same time, Georgia confirmed that the road to Paloechora would be closed from 09:00 to 13:00 and 16:00 to 18:30 each Monday for the next six weeks. I understand they will be dealing with the overhang on the corner where the road narrows to the sea.

Georgia took up residence in the office from mid-morning and stayed there until around lunchtime. I did have to go up there once as she’d disappeared but at least I was able to get breakfast out of the way, prepare the doggy dinners and have a bit of relaxation. There were still customers wandering around but most were preparing to leave.

I checked the Austrian couple out who’d stayed for five nights having extended their stay by three nights. The German couple with the small tent are leaving tomorrow so also paid up. I checked in another two British ex-pat couples to T2-3.

Later, another German couple arrived with a car and tent and have set up near the beach. I went to collect their money to find them cavorting in the sea! My plan had been to go swimming but I fell asleep in the warm sunshine and then had the Doggy Dinners to process.

I decided to go for a late swim around 17:15 just as the sun was heading towards the horizon. It was very pleasant as the sea was calm and there was little wind. As I came back into the camping I noticed a Landcruiser parked by the beach gate which I was certain wasn’t there when I went into the sea. They had arrived whilst I was swimming and put themselves in that position. They say they’re going to Sougia tomorrow so I warned them about the road closure.

Just as I thought I was done for the day, my phone rang once again. A German couple are coming from Balos and were looking for a cabin for the night. There was some interest as to the distance from the cabin to the sea. They will probably arrive sometime around 22:00: I’ve got the key ready so I can dispatch them quickly to retire to my boudoir.

I think we can safely say that this weekend has been far busier than anyone expected. Unfortunately, Georgia has taken most of the paper forms, and I didn’t check in all of the customers, so I don’t know exactly how much money was taken. Probably not far short of €800 I suppose. At least she was here to help out on Saturday and Sunday.

I have food in the pot cooking so should be able to eat it comfortably in the time it will take for the couple to come from Balos.
