Uninspiring

There was light rain during the night so I feared our morning walks might be rained off. I extracted myself from my pit around 05:45 so we were on the go just before 06:00. We seemed to have a little more enthusiasm than the previous day even though we’d had an additional tour of the Promontory with Franca the previous evening. All the dogs, including Luis and Fido, were keeping up remarkably well.

The walks were under a cloudy sky where daylight seemed to take ages to appear: stacks of blackness lurked above the mountains. We managed to get back to the van in good time so I set about getting a couple of little jobs out of the way. Isabella seemed suitably calm so I didn’t take her on another walk.

Breakfast was served once I’d prepared my own. Make them wait for a change! I used the breakfast cooking time to amuse myself with changing a gas cylinder in the customer kitchen. I’d noticed a smell of gas on occasions so decided to check the connections. I discovered that the gas pipe was loose where it joined the regulator and it wasn’t possible to tighten it. I decided to apply some PTFE tape to the connector having cut back and removed the end of the pipe. The pipe was extremely difficult to cut and remove and equally hard to seal to the connector. It really is intended to be crimped as jubilee-type clips are not man enough for the job. My endeavours were assisted by a number of cats including one of the very playful boys born in April. He is one of the most amusing and playful cats I’ve seen in a long while.

The day became progressively dull and the sky darkened over to produce some rain which continued on-and-off for much of the afternoon. Most of the dogs went into the van and slept whilst I continued to work outside. I was making some progress with the Exchange server at Inter Sport. I’d been having difficulties getting it to perform its Windows updates but I think it’s now working as expected.

With the darkened sky, the day was rapidly heading into night so I quickly got the dogs together for a speedy circuit of the Promontory to dispel some of the pent-up energy. We managed to get back just as darkness fell and before further rain gave us an unwelcome bath. For some inexplicable reason, Oskar was to be found on the wrong side of the gate into the camping at the same time as Charlie appeared from the filed by the other gate. I was more interested in not getting wet so didn’t hang around to see if the two of them were present. Supper was next on the menu so I didn’t expect them to be far behind.

An exciting storm approaches the Libyan coast with a few bits to the south of Crete. I suspect we’ll see a few distant flashes and the occasional rumble but the storms will most probably pass on by.
A high of 18C is a bit of a change after the past few days. There could be more rain on the way…
