Fence jumping

The morning crept up on me all-of-a-sudden-like. Isabella had woken me earlier to request an exit pass and I was glad to let her out especially when I saw the result later!

As I put on my boots and got Isabella into her collar, no mean feat as she wiggles incessantly, I heard the sound of a dog interfering with the fence. A sound I’ve not heard for a while. When I was ready to leave, Skinny was nowhere to be seen so I took a quick look in the storeroom just in case he’d decided to eat all of the cat food. It was only when we were about to embark that I saw Skinny mooching around outside the gate to the field. I called him, he came to me and I put on his collar.

Another lovely, clear morning following the 1.3mm or rain which accrued the previous evening. This had dampened everything down and lowered the temperature considerably. The sky was blue and mostly clear and dawn was well on the way.

We crossed the rocks and the causeway with a little reluctance from Charlie who seems concerned about getting his feet wet. We then headed in the direction of Plakaki. There was hardly any wind so the sea was a lot calmer than the past few days. The sand on the shoreline was wet and compacted which made progress much easier. I picked up very few pieces of rubbish today. Maybe I’ve exhausted the rubbish supply…

It was lovely and sunny by the time we got back to the Promontory once more so we wandered over the rocks to where the fishermen like to fish from a large rock and then down to the end and the other preferred fishing locations.

We sat for a while to watch the waves smash against the rocks then returned to the camping for some breakfast refreshment.

I started to prepare my breakfast and also the Doggy Dinners as they would go into the Pot immediately after the porridge came out. I engaged in a little light communication and Elevated my brain.

The morning was now warm and quite sunny now that the clouds had sorted themselves out. I was contemplating inwardly when the dogs alerted me to the presence of aliens in the camping. A group of three was lurking by M 4-6 so I went out to accost them.

A friend had been to the camping during the summer and reported on how pleasant the visit had been. The trio was sussing out the small and large cabins with a view to a stay in the summer. We chatted and I suggested they contact Maria via the website email.

Not long after, there was another disturbance in the force when a couple with a Skinny look-alike walked through the camping. I went to accost them, this time brandishing a bag of carrots destined for the large fridge in the main kitchen. We chatted about dogs and I suggested they might consider having their animal neutered as it might be beneficial all around. They departed towards the beach and I put the carrots in the fridge.

I’ve found time for a little gentle IT work polishing email footers and playing with DKIM and DMARC on the EG DNS servers. I intend redirecting all the daily DMARC reports to an agency who will deliver a single digest every Monday. My inbox gets clogged up with DMARC reports and I just save them and don’t read them.

The water pressure, which has been low since yesterday, improved sufficiently that a shower was an option. I’d intending making hay with the fine day and doing some washing but without sufficient water pressure the machine will not join in.

The local priest is giving it some welly on the eve of January 6 which is a religious holiday rather than a public one. I think they have installed a new PA system as he seems louder than in the past.

The Evening Walk is now complete and the dogs are stuffing their faces. The cats have been fed so there should be a little peace for a while. It was only today that I noticed how fat Hopalong has become.

Another very pleasant and warm sunny day. The weather is forecast to remain stable for a few days. This time last year it was horrible if I recall.
