Inactive Sunday

Dr Finlay was getting into hot water with an unprofessional meeting with a married woman who came to him due to relationship problems. Dr Cameron, now retired, was at the German POW camp teaching English to the inmates. He had his own special problems.

Luis dragged me out of my pit by pissing on the floor. Certainly a good way to attract my attention but not a good start to my day. He was ejected and given a collar to ensure he didn’t bark. I returned to bed having exercised the mop but didn’t sleep so was awake and ready to roll when the alarm sounded.

Another warm morning so I left a jumper behind to avoid overheating. It seemed darker but maybe we were out slightly earlier. The walk was as usual but perhaps a little brisker. The dogs went racing off after something when we were walking up Alonáki Beach but they returned pretty quickly once I started pressing buttons. Probably just a cat stupid enough to be near the top of the beach.

I saw a pickup arrive as we walked back towards the Promontory but it was too late to be the guy who takes photos. I walked the dogs along the eastern rocks for a change as much as anything to find someone fishing on the rocks at the end of the Promontory. Fishing and hunting were allowed during the Christmas period but became forbidden on 31 December if I recall. Fishermen are generally naughty and it’s pretty obvious leaving your truck at the end of the Promontory.

We were back at the camping just after eight so I took some time to read the newspapers and to Elevate my brain before feeding the mutts.

I went for a wander to discover the water boiler had stopped working so I did the usual things to no avail. The day was sunny so the water’s hot enough. I suggested people, all three of them, use the other showers if the water’s not warm enough in the main bathrooms.

I went back to make my breakfast and replenish the dog biscuits. We take much longer to demolish 20kg now we eat loads of vegetables. It’s not so cold now so they could have less food anyway.

My breakfast was soon in the pot so I sat down to check my emails and watch a couple of interesting DW documentaries before breakfast.

I managed to catch up with some more email to blog transfers moving into February 2014. Manolis came to borrow some gas as his had run out and later, Alma came to tell me her English friend Stephanie was in the camping. She arrived in September and has already got her residents permit paperwork in the mill. An interesting character who lives in Anydri.

I finally extracted myself to continue with my email transfers before getting a solar-powered shower. I then fiddled with the mosquito net over my bed as it had become rather floppy recently. I’m trying a different suspension technique to give more headroom.

It was getting dark so we went for our evening walk on the Promontory. A fishing boat was out off the rocky point of the Promontory with someone with a powerful torch. The walk was otherwise uneventful apart from Charlie being a little late back at the end. I was deep in meaningful thought so didn’t make sure they were all together when we left the Promontory.

A warm and Sunny Sunday with no wind! Tomorrow looks like it might be the last dry day for a week as the rainy season may be finally upon us.
