Early flasher

I became a little sidetracked so it was getting late when we eventually went inside. Our hairy visiter had been sent off home to find something to eat. I managed to find time to prepare something to eat and to get a shower before it was time for bed.

We still appear to have an invader of some kind as Luis and Fido keep leaping up to see what is lurking at the front of the van. With the field being disturbed and much of the undergrowth torn up there are probably plenty of homeless rodents looking for new digs.

We went out with a flashing Skinny as he was testing out one of the new flashing collars. He is very visible and it only goes to prove how quickly he moves around. It wasn’t long before our visitor caught us up as we crossed the rocks for the first time. She came racing up as if the house was on fire! Isabella was pleased to have the company and the others didn’t make a sound.

We performed our usual trip down to Plakaki and back with a further Promontory circuit at the end. Then back to the camping and inside for all except the girlies as I wanted to get into Paleochora to the post office and Petrakis for some groceries.

The post office was not busy so it was quite quick to return the RPi 4 computer to the supplier. Tracked postage for a small package is 11€.

I bought lots of fruit and vegetables in Petrakis so my bike was well loaded up for the return which was against the westerly wind. I even engaged a higher level of assistance!

All was quiet when I returned. I unpacked my shopping then evicted the Rug so I could feed the others. It wasn’t long before she appeared at the filed gate demanding to be let back in. I made my breakfast as well as some bread and the Doggy Dinners. No hanging around here!

The starter was pretty active but this time I made the dough up manually which didn’t take that long. It definitely pays to get the starter going the day before if it’s been stored in the fridge. I take the jar out, divide it in two and feed both halves. The jar goes back into the fridge for another time and the other jar sits in the sun or on top of the inverter which appears to keep it at a suitable temperature. The dough will still probably not be fully risen until tomorrow morning when I’ll bake it.

The day turned out to be really lovely. Blue sky and plenty of sun so a full battery despite cooking breakfast and the DDs. I’d planned to make some other battery adjustments following yesterday’s addition of the Smart Shunt however the dogs were lying quietly in the sun so I felt it would be a pity to disturb them by moving everything around to work on the batteries.

I scanned the receipt and proof of postage and sent it to the RPi supplier who I suspect will not refund the €11 it cost to return it but hopefully the outbound postage as well as the purchase price. The RPi 3 seems to be working pretty well as a media and WiFi database device at present so I’ll hold off before getting another RPi.

Other tasks included scanning and sending the latest telephone bill to Maria to ensure the phone and, more importantly, the Internet connection is not cut off.

There were a couple of trips to the rubbish containers to dispose of some cardboard boxes and other dross discovered when moving everything around yesterday. I’m sure I kept the boxes for a very useful purpose!

Tony arrived to walk the dogs and we agreed that next week is going to be cold with snow in the mountains. The current forecast is for lows of 6℃ with more significant rain showers over four days. Some of the highs are predicted to be only three degrees more than the lows.

A warm and sunny day with no wind later on. With the sun setting, I can feel the temperature dropping!
