Somewhat moist

I lingered in bed just a tiny bit as it was dark and windy outside. The reality was that it would have been light enough had I got up at the appointed time.

There was the beginning of dawn on the horizon and it was less cloudy than I imagined it to have been. We traversed the rocks and the causeway without incident however the sea was much rougher when we came back later so some of us narrowly avoided getting more than our feet wet.

There was quite a bit of doggy dashing around on the way back from Plakaki. A function of the wind and the occasional bird which Isabella likes to chase.

Once back, I set off for Krios against a strong westerly wind. I used loads of assistance as it would have been very slow and tiring otherwise. Gregory and his dogs were en route so I went on ahead.

I warned Gregory not to be fooled by the sunshine breaking through the clouds. The forecast was for rain in varying degrees of unpleasantness from around 14:00. I don’t think he believed me despite reading the forecast to him.

I didn’t stay very long as I had a number of things to do so sloped off around 08:30 for an easy ride back to the camping with the wind pushing me along.

I quickly fed the dogs then got on with my breakfast and the Doggy Dinners. Juergen planned to return with a TV he wanted me to look at around 14:00.

I’m still having problems with my WiFi despite having changed the access point. I spent a short while fiddling with that as my breakfast cooked but to no apparent gain. I can use the next nearest access point but it’s a bit far so the signal can get lost in the trees.

I walked up to the office with my laptop to do some jobs and encountered a couple in an elderly but beautifully restored VW camper of some forty years of age. They have paid for two nights and have parked themselves by the large gate onto the beach. Apparently, they have been at the east of the island since their arrival in November. Their plan was to spend two years travelling in their van however the pandemic has put paid to that.

The young couple in Ξ6 were planning to walk into Paleochora this afternoon to catch the only bus to Chania until Friday. I suggested they might get wet as well as spend a wet night in their tent to pack up in time to catch the bus which leaves at 07:30 on Wednesday. Unfortunately, the present timetable doesn’t send the bus to Kountoura before heading to Chania which would have been extremely convenient as they could have stopped it as it passed the camping. I collected their additional money and left them lurking in their cabin to contemplate packing away their disaster area. Those two make me look TIDY!

Tony came to put up a post for the special water meter camera and Michalis came to help as he was to take a fridge from M2 as Martha’s is on the blink. We decided it was too difficult putting a post in the ground so I’ll fix the camera to a carefully prepared tree. I laughingly thought they might dig a hole, fill it with concrete and set the pole in it. A bridge too far I’m afraid.

More rain was falling as I retreated to the reception to do an IT job for Simon. One of the pussies made a racket outside until I let him in. He wandered around a while then jumped up into the chair to become a furry back warmer. Very comforting.

The doggy rice is cooking and we’re sitting inside the van as it’s warmer than the awning area. The rain is pouring down outside still so I’ve suggested Juergen might postpone his TV delivery until his planned return in May.

I have a Skinny of extreme soppiness next to me who has now degenerated into an advanced soppy euphoria of untold magnitude. He has been replaced by Obi who is now perched on my lap. Something which is not possible for anyone of greater stature.

The doggy rice has finished cooking so all that is needed is for the pressure to release and we’re good to go with the DDs.

Isabella and Skinny are now engaged in a joint soppy session however Obi probably considers them a little too close for comfort.

I shan’t be sad once the dogs are fed and I can retire inside for the evening.

Sunny in the morning but wet later
