Independence Day

I was getting ready for bed just after nine as I was having trouble keeping awake. I left the radio on and then couldn’t find the USB keyboard which turns it off so went to sleep as I couldn’t be bothered to get out of bed as it was cold and I was nice and warm. Later, I needed to get up for other purposes so took the opportunity to kill off the music which wasn’t very loud anyway. It was great to get back under my duvet again.

I was a wake and up before 05:00 so we made an early start onto the Promontory and the beach.

The river had narrowed considerably so, with the help of some large stones, I was able to cross with almost dry feet.

The smaller dogs needed to wade and both Luis and Fido looked a little damp after crossing the river twice. It must have been cold too as the air temperature was only around 10℃. With the continuing cold, northerly wind, it was very chilly.

I was glad we were back before 07:00 as I wanted to go shopping. The only problem was that I’d forgotten it is Independence Day and everything was closed. I met a guy waiting for a lift outside Petrakis who explained why everything was closed. He works in the greenhouses opposite the camping so knows me. Not that I know him.

Having had an abortive shopping trip, I took Isabella out onto the Promontory for a little additional ball-throwing exercise as I had a feeling it might be cold all day.

Once back, I released the other dogs, made breakfast for me once they were fed then prepared the Doggy Dinners. I survived outside for a little while but then retired inside as did the dogs.

That was pretty much the story for the majority of the day. I had plenty of IT tasks to occupy me although I wandered the camping a couple of times.

Bona came to ask me to evict the the people from the community room as she needed to prepare it for the upcoming Royal Visit by Georgia and her entourage.

Soon after, I walked the dogs. A Smart Car with Odysseus Pizza passed us at the entrance to the beach car park. He was looking for Elias who’d ordered pizza as he’d not been able to go shopping either. The dogs chased the Smart back up the road and I called Elias to tell him his pizza was looking for him. Back at the camping, I fed the dogs and adjourned inside with the fan heater which is now going full blast on my feet and legs. What bliss!

Ursula is now the proud owner of two bionic legs having eventually managed to get the second operation today. No doubt, she’ll soon be skipping about like a three-year-old.

Generally cold and overcast however the solar panels managed to produce 5.7kW/h which will compensate for the fan heater.
