Lurgy in town

The night was chilly so I should have reverted to my duvet. I will be doing so tonight as the forecast temperatures are as low as 8℃ which is pretty chilly for Crete.

Our morning walk was brisk and windy so I was very glad to be wearing a coat. It would have been very unpleasant otherwise.

I went straight off to Krios on my bike as I wanted to get some bread made. It was too early for Gregory so I rode straight back to the camping and got things going. I actually managed to get my breakfast into the pot just after 09:00!

I thought I’d better check on the community room which had been rearranged by the twins. I also discovered that the electric hob had been used and various utensils had found their way from the kitchen. I did some superficial cleaning and closed down the roller shutter to keep out inquisitive fingers. I rearranged the furniture and made things look a little more shipshape as the room is quite a sensitive area for Georgia.

I moved my attention to the kitchen and put out the rubbish then emptied the paper bins in the standalone loos. I don’t know how long it will be before Bona comes so I cleaned some of the toilets as her visits are brief and cleaning superficial.

I took a photo of the latest batch of kittens of which there is little doubt there are four. Three of which are ginger so there are no guesses as to who is the father. He’s also on the list for a visit to the vet for some alterations.

Mikhalis and Tony have been in the camping messing around with the fire site and hopefully disposing of the rubbish. There is also the possibility the saga of the water meter may be coming to an end as they were doing something with that too.

I had a call from Stephanie to say that some of the staff at Synka, one of the Paleochora supermarkets, have tested positive for The Lurgy. I don’t visit Paleochora more than necessary so will just be more cautious. Apparently, there are around twenty confirmed cases so far.

My dough splurged more than rose so I shall probably be presented with a biscuit rather than a loaf unless it suddenly rises very quickly. I’ve given some of my starter to Elias so that he can make some bread and try out his oven for baking purposes. As they plan to stay for a month, I suggested they relocate nearer to the playground for the girls. The are pretty independent and ride around the camping on their bikes. It’s a pretty safe environment so long as they stay away from the road and the main entrance. I was chatting to one of the twins this morning and counting up to twenty in English. The bulk of our conversation was in French which afforded me a little practice which was good.

The weather has been warm in the sun but the northerly wind makes it feel very cold. Fortunately, after a blowy start to the day, the wind has subsided for today and the next few days. Altogether, there was over 11mm rain yesterday of which the bulk fell in the evening and the night. More is forecast for tonight.

Cold at night and windy but still and warmer during the day
