Alarm!

It was the alarm as well as dogs fidgeting, which woke me this morning. I treated all of the dogs with anti-parasite product as my teeth were beginning to fall out with all of the scratching which almost shakes me out of bed!

There was light ahead as we crossed the field partly due to being out later than the previous day and partly as there were few clouds to block out the light.

From across the field.

There was a new Apple update for my phone which appears to have fixed the problem I was having trouble with my activity circles not correctly recording my workouts. This update has fixed the problem.

It was almost light when we reached the end of the Promontory and crossed over the rocks. I’d forgotten to put my bike battery on charge so we took a small diversion back to the camping so that I could do that and pick up a coat as the wind was a lot stronger and colder than I’d anticipated.

We continued up the beach to Plakaki having crossed the river more easily than the day before. It’s still running well but is not so wide as it was.

I set off on my bike for Paleochora having deposited the dogs into the van. Petrakis was not busy and I noticed people were being more serious about wearing their masks. Very few were not wearing one or wearing it incorrectly. I understand from Georgia there is a lot of CoVID in Chania which is probably how it’s managed to find its way to Paleochora.

I headed back through the roadworks where there was some activity most concerned with filling in the potholes which quickly develop in the soft surface. There seems little sign of moving onto the next stage as I suspect there is more work required on that stretch and the one at the entrance to Paleochora.

The men who would be working on the fire alarm were expected at 08:30 so I unlocked the rooms which would require them to replace the emergency lighting and check the alarm pushes. As expected, the first arrival was at 08:45 whereupon I left them to it and headed back to let out the dogs. I didn’t want to leave the office open if there was no one there.

I put away the shopping which was mostly fruit and vegetables, some of which went into the fridge in the Central Kitchen.

It was looking like a sunny day was on the way so I rolled back the tent door, put the chair outside and was able to sit comfortably in the sun for an hour. At this point, I felt it was time to get some breakfast going.

The electrical works affected the remainder of the system as the power went off periodically making serious work difficult. Maria had asked me to take some photos of T1-3 for her to send to customers wishing to reserve for the summer. I went to the office to collect the keys only to discover Georgia already had them as she was showing someone the static vans with a view to upgrading them in the longterm but repair some of the internal defects for this season.

I took the photos which I relayed to Maria via Viber, the preferred communication app in Greece. She later contacted me to ask how she could move the photos from Viber to the Android photo album so that she could then attach them to emails. This was my second IT support request of the day.

I returned to the chair and sat lazily in the sun until I levered myself up to walk around to close up all of the places left open for the workmen. This was followed by a visit to the shower where I found myself next to the crazy twins who were in the adjacent cubicle. As soon as they discovered I was next door they became pottier than before. Anyone outside must have wondered what the French conversation was about between the cubicles!

The doggy rice has been cooked and there is a little group of dogs waiting hopefully for an evening walk so I’d better not disappoint.

A wonderfully warm and sunny day after a windy start
