Unenthusiastic

There was not the usual stampede for the door, more a sedate waiting for it to be opened once I finally extracted myself. Only Skinny and Isabella went out as none of the others showed any enthusiasm. Even they initially sat quietly waiting for their collars to be put on. It was a coat day as the wind was back from the north after a short holiday to the south.

Despite the lack of enthusiasm and the likes of Luis and Fido nipping out for a quick wee and back inside again, we were out the gate and onto the Promontory before 06:30. Skinny was nowhere to be seen but it was still dark and he blends nicely with the background. At the moment, he’s being a very good boy always being present at the right stages of the walk and not disappearing off on a walk of his own. He just passes like a ship in the night.

It was hard going walking to Plakaki against the wind and it seemed to take forever as the dogs seemed interested in everything everywhere. The refuse truck picked up the bins as we walked back but failed to pick up the one in the car park which is now overflowing. Tomorrow will be windy and hopefully, the bin will not fall over creating a rubbish nightmare of epic proportion.

I rode off to Krios, found no one there so turned around and came back to meet Gregory on the way. We chatted briefly but it was cold and windy so I continued on my way.

Litsa and Manolis came to swap over the electrical socket which has been causing their camera to go offline from time-to-time. Their reason to escape from Chania this time is to come to pay for their boat mooring fees.

The day has been grey, cool and periodically windy but I’ve been sitting outside with my laptop except for the time I went up to shorten and reterminate the cable for Manolis and Litsa. It pays to be attentive to their needs as they have lots of orange and lemon trees and thus a surplus of fruit at the appropriate time.

I’m baking the bread I made yesterday however I have no aspiration that it will turn out very exciting. Elias told me he put in a very runny dough this morning which turned into a very presentable bread despite its apparent shortcomings.

Banana bread

I tried some of the banana bread I made yesterday and it tasted pretty good for a first attempt. I even managed to get it out of the tin without ending up with a million pieces all over the floor.

I spent the first part of the day on a couple of support calls then much of the remainder trying to get the Exchange Server to update itself. Richard went to Haywards-Heath to restart the server which was an essential requirement to the operation.

The Evening Walk was brisk as it’s cold but fortunately no longer windy. Tomorrow will be windy, cold and potentially wet too!

A cold, windy start to a grey but sometimes sunny day. Much cooler than yesterday.

We’ve had 20c today- after a frosty start! Lunch in the garden with the sunshade up – Kallie has been sunbathing and had a dip in the river….
