Skinny and Isabella were first out the door as usual with Fido following close behind. The door was open all night again as it was warm enough all evening and night. There’s more noise if it’s windy but the fresh air is a worthwhile advantage. It was a little cloudy but definitely not cold.

The dogs were just coming into the car park when a motorcycle appeared from the main road. The rider is well known to them as he comes to the Promontory to spearfish quite regularly. I think they were probably more surprised than anything so there was a slight disturbance until I shut a couple of barkers up with some ‘gentle’ reminders of how to behave. They immediately lost interest in the bike and its rider preferring to come to me for some biscuits. This included Skinny as he was one of the noise-makers.

They followed quite closely up to the rocks where more biscuits were distributed to all. It was getting quite light so no problem crossing the rocks and back to the beach direction Plakaki. Skinny was out ahead but not out of visibility range. My aim is to keep him from getting too far ahead and summoning him from-time-to-time so he stays reasonably close. Boundaries and limitations and all that.

A truck was parked outside of one of the apartments adjacent to the beach. I could make out sheep in the back which soon Fido also noticed so started to woof. Since the sheep effectively had nowhere to go, I quickly convinced Fido that woofing was not on the list of desirable activities and he gamely came over to me to prove his concurrence with my decision.

We didn’t see the spear fisherman when we were back at the Promontory so our second circuit was without excitement. That said, Isabella found something smelly to roll in so was unpleasant when she came back to the van. I have since cleaned her smelly collar and hung it on the fence to dry.

I did some small jobs before cycling off for a spin around Paleochora. It was just that as I had no other reason to go there. It was a pleasant ride and I was able to survey the latest progress to the road project.

Another project for the morning was to empty the ice from the ice machine of which there was plenty. With the display fridge in the way, I needed help so enlisted Elias who was washing off his solar panels and filling his truck with water. Together, we removed the huge washing bowl which contained all of the ice produced since the machine had been cleaned. I was going to throw it away however he offered it to the girls who played happily with it all morning. The ice eventually turned into a swimming pool for some of their mermaids.

There have been a couple of support calls from Inter Sport but other than that, a quiet day. I’ve spent time doing little jobs and fiddling with my iPad setup which I getting on very well with.

Other than a little walk around the camping and some short chats, it was a quiet day until that lunatic Xanthippos decided to light a huge fire not far from the fence with the camping with a strong easterly wind blowing. The camping quickly filled with smoke resulting in a lot of shouting and arm-waving over the fence. I know that Dimitris was involved as was Georgia by the sound of it. Burning the camping down would not have been a good outcome although it might have tested out the recently refurbished fire system and hoses. I noticed them being tested last week.

Some of the local loonies are riding their noisy bikes along the beach road and onto Grammeno Beach and probably the Promontory. More ruts in the car park and in the sand on the Promontory.

Not quite the forecast temperature of 26C but a warm, if not cloudy day. Higher temperatures are predicted for the Easter Weekend.
