Fun with the booking site

It was gloomy as I emerged onto the decking to track down my socks dangling on the washing line and removed any sand or stones from my boots before struggling into them. Once the initial shock of waking up had passed, I put collars on dogs and fed cats so that we were good to go.

I took the precaution of adding a layer but ended up leaving my light fleece and head torch on a tree branch for later collection. I was so warm that I also removed my T-shirt for the duration of the Alonáki Beach section. I put it back on once we were back on the Promontory where it’s more exposed.

Skinny and Isabella amused each other with a stick game which involved Isabella running off a short distance with a stick. She would then sit down so that Skinny could try to pick it up whereupon he would have to chase her to endeavour to get it back. They ended up going into the sea when I threw the stick into the water. Most of the dogs were already wet anyway.

Once back at the van, I prepared the Doggy Dinners, Elevated my brain, fed the mummy cats and kittens then cycled into Paleochora for some gentle grocery shopping. Not that I really needed anything just that it seemed a good idea to pick up some of the bulkier stuff. Petrakis was not particularly busy so I was on my way back fairly quickly.

Men were doing things involving string and a tape measure. There was aggregate spread over the road so perhaps they are building it up and levelling it off. I feel certain it will all be completed before June…

My next stop, having parked my bike, was to walk down to the sea for a quick dip and a splash around. After the initial getting in, the water seemed quite warm although fifteen minutes was enough as there were lumps in the sea today making swimming more interesting.

I threaded my way through the furniture removed from the storeroom and assembled outside then got dry and fed the dogs. The day was becoming more overcast and was cooler than recently. There were the occasional gusty wind squalls which cooled things down too.

The Doggy Dinners were soon cooked and ready to be processed however I was engrossed with the test booking site so decided to postpone the processing until later.

Rico, the German guy, his wife and small son, came to pay for the camping as they are staying for a month. Their next move is to the Peloponnese however I understand there is only one ferry per week from Kissamos via Kithera to Githion. He is now parked in the place where I was when I first came to Grammeno. A good thing really as the bar is opening for this weekend.

There has been a constant stream of bookings from the current booking website. Most bookings are for two or three days for the coming period but longer for July/August. There will be a sensible number of people here for this weekend and next but I should imagine the bar will open just for the Friday – Sunday period. I believe there is still a curfew so it will need to close by 22:45 anyway.

The bread I made yesterday and put back in the oven for longer is quite edible. It’s a gluten-free bread from cornflour and oats with chia seeds on top. The recipe requires a little refining but could prove a winner.

I went for a longer visit to the mother cat and kittens now residing on J&E’s decking. They seem very relaxed and happy and were playing together. I petted the mother as well as the kittens, which are becoming more adventurous.

The bar furniture has found its way down to the bar. Georgia called to tell me the bulldozer would be working on the beach from around 07:30 and did I think Rico and family would mind. I asked them if they’d like to move but they’re paying winter rates so should expect to put up with some slight inconvenience.

Tomorrow, we have a goodly selection of arrivals so I’ll need to get organised. I notice someone has assembled all of the room keys on the reception desk. Hopefully, they’re all present and correct but I’ll check them in the morning.

A very presentable 28℃ which would have seemed warmer had it not been for the light wind. The day was generally overcast
