More Rain

I might not have been paying attention when I put the Doggy Rice on to cook. I was distracted by my potatoes so stupidly put the lid on the DR without putting any water in the pan. The potatoes went on top without a lid and happily cooked in the steam as expected. It was only when I removed the lid to the rice when I took it out of the pot that I realised what I’d done. I had been organised and prepared everything to get the dogs fed so that I could go inside to eat my supper. There was a delay whilst I added water to the pan and put it back in the pot to cook and to soak up the water. What was in the pan before definitely wouldn’t have been enough to feed the dogs.

The dogs finally got their food as did I. We went in to watch some TV before bedtime. There was a mass exodus when I let Isabella out. The only dogs not outside were Skinny and also Fido, so I was sure to eject him. Luis disappeared and became unresponsive so I went to bed knowing that it wouldn’t be long before he gave himself away. Sure enough, he found something to bark at but then heeded my request to come in. There was something untoward as Isabella had a bark too.

Cloud to the east presented a gloomy sky with reduced light although I was able to take a reasonable dawn photo.

Looking east from Alonaki

Oskar was missing for the first couple of stops but all were present at the third distribution point which was a bonus. Oskar had doubtless been on some important mission involving something nasty. Probably the remains of the gull discovered on the Big Beach a little later.

Bird remains being closely examined by Fido

They seemed to be lagging behind a little as we walked up to Plakaki however they managed to catch up leaving only Luis to cut the corner and catch the remainder on the way back.

The guy with the empty toilet cassette was in the same parking position near to some trees. Doubtless, his loo is not quite as empty as it was twenty-four hours ago.

There were no fishermen or anyone for that matter as we completed our second trip and returned to the van. I wanted to make some bread and get to the office to install the circuit board into the TV as it would probably be nice to be rid of that. The TV still doesn’t work so I’ll need to refer to Juergen as to what to do next. A Zombie appeared from a bedroom next to the reception what resembled Maria. She shuffled into the office to ask my how she might make the screen bigger on the ChromeBook. Hopefully, she’s now learned the art of pinching the trackpad to zoom in.

I took my bike to the top of the mountain then rode back to the camping for a quick swim as I skipped yesterday as it was windy and I’d ridden for over an hour. The sea was cool to get into so I didn’t hang around for too long.

I released and fed the dogs whilst enjoying the morning sunshine which warmed me up after my swim.

The bread starter hadn’t make much progress so I contented myself with a rest and a cup of tea. The dogs distributed themselves around in the sun and went to sleep. It’s also possible I might have fallen asleep too.

The bread needed finishing so I leapt to my feet and mixed the starter in with the dough waiting in the glass bowl. The mixture was then put into a bread tin to rise. It was later in the day and there was less sunshine so I didn’t have high expectations on the rising front.

The clear, sunny day started to cloud over and cool down considerably. The forecast talked about a small amount of rain later but not in the afternoon. A few drops started to fall so I brought in the dog blankets strewn over the decking as well as my socks and towel. My shorts from swimming earlier couldn’t get much wetter.

The apparent temperature dropped as the rain fell so I closed up the awning front but left the door open.

A call from Inter Sport to change over one of the NAS disks in Lewes. I left the disks synchronising and prepared the Doggy Dinners and the rice. I could feel an early supper coming on.

Once the rice was ready, I fed the dogs so that we could retire inside as it was cooler and still raining a little. As the evening went on, the intensity of the rain occasionally increased freshening up the sand and cleaning the atmosphere as well as my PV panels. These were particularly dusty but I don’t generally worry too much in the summer as there’s more sunshine than I know what to do with.

Later, I stumbled out into the camping where everything was dark and quiet. There were very few punters except for those in Ξ2 which I noticed when I returned from feeding the kittens earlier.

I watched an episode of Open All Hours before retiring to bed under a sheet AND a blanket as it certainly wasn’t too hot in my pit.

Warm and sunny turning cloudy with a little rain in the afternoon and evening.
