The Snorer

We followed the same routine as yesterday as it was quicker and gave less opportunity for the dogs to make noise. No sooner were they ready to go than we were out the gate to cross the field.

I was expecting to find more cars in the beach car park and I wasn’t disappointed. I was more focussed on the dogs in case there were lots of bodies scattered around. As it happens, only the snorer from yesterday was still in the same position. The only difference was that Luis didn’t bark at the tent. Bonus!

I kept Charlie on a short line and called him to me on several occasions. He was getting behind as we crossed the beach to Plakaki but I waited and made him catch up. Fortunately, the others also slowed down so it didn’t matter that I was concentrating on only one dog. There was one car at the end of the beach road and a tent above the dried up river. The dogs seemed little interested in it.

There was plenty of racing around by Skinny and Isabella as the birds gave them a good runaround. Always from the safety of distance or being out over the sea.

Our second tour was almost uneventful with only a fisherman on the rocks. I saw his car arrive so I was ready for him too. Skinny wandered over to make friends but I called him back to me: I was about to distribute biscuits anyway.

Some dogs on a rock

We lingered on the beach and passed Kostas’ car on the way back. I had Doggy Dinners to prepare and wanted to do this before riding my bike. It was a little later today but I made it to the top and then went back to the camping.

I stopped off to visit Litsa and Manolis surrounded by cars. Now that the top of the site has been cleared of the caravan and other rubbish, there is more space for parking cars. There were a few on the road as well as others in the overflow car park the other side of the neighbours.

Litsa gave me a couple of her rice deserts as she’d recently made a batch. Manolis was patiently putting hooks on lines which he will later leave out overnight. They go out to bring in the lines very early in the morning.

I went for a quick swim mindful of the fact the dogs were inside and the camping was waking up. For some reason, I was unable to leave music for them to listen to however Radio Paradise seems to be fine now.

The DDs were cooked but still pressurised so I changed, fed the dogs and then sat down for a bit of a rest.

Other than a conversation with Juergen, some Internet browsing and some deep contemplation, it has been rather an inactive day.

The DDs were processed at around 15:00 and I knocked up some rye starter to try out an interesting bread recipe. The starter has doubled in size in just over three hours so needs chucking into the dough which I’ll leave until bedtime and then shove in the fridge overnight or it will be too far gone by morning.

Oskar soon found himself alone in the SDC where he’s been for much of the day. Luis was occasionally barky but not sufficiently to join Oskar. I’m general, and considering the small yappy dog and small children directly the other side of the wire, they have been very well behaved. Perhaps the collars and the spell in the SDC yesterday did the trick.

Warm and sunny with a high just under 32C. Warmer weather forecast later in the week.
