Hottest Day of the Year II

A gag was required for Luis as he seemed incapable of keeping quiet. I think I can say “Shut up, Luis!” from any stage of sleep.

I wore a T-shirt even though it was 21C as we left the camping. I’m not sure why…

The sky was a little murky again, there were no FreeLoaders only Kostas collecting salt when we returned for the second round of the Promontory.

I was glad to be back early as I planned to finish the installation of the AP down in the bar. The job just required finishing including termination and mounting the AP to one of the wooden posts which holds up the bar roof. I finished and was walking up just before 08:00.

I rode to the mountain pass and then down through Paleochora and back, then went for a swim. The sea was completely calm and very warm. I was in no hurry to get out.

Manos and Michael were fishing from a sun bed near the foreshore. Apparently, Manos had caught four fish. I went back to the dogs to release and feed them before decanting the dough from yesterday into a loaf tin. The baked loaf is no ‘curing’ in the oven with the heat off.

Michael needed to insure his car so needed to send his licence details to Georgia. Maria said she was unable to scan from her laptop and asked if I could investigate. I went up to the reception after a cup of tea. For some reason, Maria’s laptop had decided that Grammeno was a public network so had made itself invisible which was why she couldn’t scan. I did some updates at the same time and drank some ice tea kindly presented by Michael for helping him out.

My next port of call was the bar as Dimitris had asked Maria to ask me to come and see him about the tills down there. I fiddled around and was able to connect one of the tills but the other requires a longer cable to reach out to the counter where Dimitris sits.

Dimitris showed me his leg which is no longer in plaster but in a stocking. He still requires a walker to get about. He told me he fractured both bones in the lower leg. We exchanged numbers on Viber so that he can contact me directly and more speedily.

If I recall correctly, I installed the cables and switch for July last year but then the connection was postponed to August and September. Then the restaurant and bar closed.

It was really quite warm so I fetched the fan/cooler from the storeroom. I emptied all the sludge and gave it a clean when I put it away a couple of months ago. Having connected it to the tap and filled up the reservoir, I noticed the pump wasn’t working. Ι took the device to pieces and cleaned the pump however it’s still not working. I’m now looking for a replacement.

I’d been meaning to cut my hair for several days as I kept standing on it. That will no longer be a problem as it’s now cut and I had a shower to wash off all the hair clippings.

Despite the cooling part of the fan not working, Isabella has taken up station in front of it as at least it’s still able to circulate and stir up the air if nothing else.

The high for today is 38.6C at 15:55 so definitely the hottest day of the year so far. The forecast predicts three or four more hot days in a row. Handy for the weekend as it will hopefully bring in the punters.
