Wonderful Aroma

I’d just fed the dogs and prepared my own food when I had a call from Bona. She delighted in telling me that the whole family plus drone were present for my tutorial on drone flying. We started off in the middle of the camping opposite the showers but then moved down to the beach. The drone kept wandering off on its own becoming unresponsive to the controller. I had a small boy who kept retrieving it but it was windy so I didn’t want their drone to end up in the sea. I suggested they might give me the drone and its English instructions so that I could set it up. At €135 it’s only a basic drone as you need to spend a lot more of that for something more sophisticated. Even so, they’ve not had it for long so didn’t want it to end up in the sea. I promised to sort it out the following day.

Houmas was hosting a wedding celebration which was still going until 05:00. The music was audible in the camping but not intrusive. At least there were no automatic weapons at 02:00!

I keep forgetting to mention the wonderful aroma of the sand lilies or daffodils – whichever they are. They are in full flow early in the morning and more powerful when there is hardly any wind like today. A white [rental] car was in the car park, joined by another later. We didn’t find any maggots but there was a fisherman on the rocks at the end of the Promontory when we went back later. Azzurro was devoid of copulating couples as we walked towards Plakaki. Quite uneventful.

I rearranged my brain before riding into Paleochora and joining Michael for a 09:00 swimathon. People were tending to the PAWS puppies so I rode on by. Yiannis was sweeping outside the store so I stopped to thank him for the oil burner he kindly gave me. He mentioned the Paleochora half-marathon next Sunday and asked if I’d be interested to run with him in the 5km. He’s training for the Athens Marathon on 2nd Sunday of November so is in the shorter run next week. I said I’d think about it…

I was a couple of minutes early for Michael so we were in the water by 09:00. Today I managed to remember to start my workout. I thought I’d better go straight back afterwards to release the dogs rather than loaf around in the sun. He went to finish off his coffee at the bar.

I had some tea and a little rest then looked at the dreaded drone. It soon became apparent that I needed more space to exercise and set up the beast so went walkabout to find a key to the common room which is currently used for drying bedding. Reception was deserted so I tracked down Bona for the key. I gave back all the keys in May except for the three I copied and use every day during the winter.

The drone was wandering so I changed the battery and was soon joined by Bona’s husband and children. With the charged battery, the drone settled down so I was soon able to pass the controller to the boys. There were a few crashes, none fatal, whilst one of the boys was more coordinated than the others. I set the drone up so it could also be flown and the camera viewed via the phone and left them to it. I have a suspicion the battery charging lead plug is a little defective which might explain why the battery is not fully charged each time.

I returned to the dogs for some gentle Sunday afternoon repose but was soon contacted by Michael asking for an Apple Lightning charger for a customer. It turned out the customer needed the cable as she had a power brick to charge it. I returned to my meditation.

The remainder of the day has slipped away unnoticed but then it’s Sunday and I did quite a bit this morning.

The top temperature is 36.2ºC which is warm for this time of year.

A warm and still start becoming windier and warmer during the day. More of the same until Wednesday

Carl would have been 46 today…
