Little Weeds

Another 5mm rain fell between 22:00 and midnight then a few more mm during the early morning. There was light rain as we crossed the field in the direction of a soggy track and car park towards The Promontory. The moon was out as was Venus but a goodly layer of cloud perched over the eastern horizon so I suspected dawn might take a while. It wasn’t too hot!

Our walk progressed well as all dogs managed to show up in the right places. I’m still experimenting with the flashing locator beacons. The latest trial is having them under the neck so they reflect from the ground. Otherwise, they can be a little dazzling.

Skinny and Isabella crossed the river although Skinny went alone up to Plakaki to explore. He managed to get back in time for some biscuits though. We set off back just as it was starting to get light around 06:25. I no longer needed the torch and I turned some of the lights off once we were back on the Promontory. There was some driving rain from the other side of the mountains blown by the northerly wind. It was quite difficult to stand as I dished out biscuits on the highest point of the rocks. We carried on and back to the camping.

I decided to take a little rest as the sky looked rather grim so used the time to Elevate and Balance. It was warmer when I took Isabella out to carry her ball around the Promontory. There were two problems: I’d forgotten to bring a meaty treat for Isabella and she hurt herself the previous evening in her efforts to retrieve her ball. The two factors were enough to dampen her enthusiasm and she was very calm.

The day was becoming cooler and windier so most of the dogs retired within once they’d been fed. I stayed outside, ate breakfast and chilled out for a while before fiddling with my spreadsheets once more. I have now produced a template invoice for Georgia which is a replica of the printed one as well as in Greek. I’ve also made it so that I have only to write the customer’s name in one box and all the information from my daily sheets transfers across. I have merely to print off the pages and hand them in, together with the summary, to Georgia at the end of the month.

One of the trees at the lower part of the camping was blown over by the wind which was quite strong during the night.

It’s not dead, it’s merely resting!
I suspect the roots were a little too shallow for the very sandy and rocky soil.

Antonis came to fix the bottom step of Kirsti and Jorma’s motorhome. It was bent and need more reinforcement. Jorma said it was because Kirsti was too heavy. There’s a man who may be hungry this evening! Antonis riveted some aluminium box section to the underside and brought it back by the afternoon. He showed me some plants to pick so I spent a little time later gathering some more and cleaning them for this evening.

Kirsti took Isabella out for a walk. There was still a strong wind which was blowing a significant amount of rain over the mountains. It must be very damp up there. How people live up in the mountains I don’t understand.

I sent pictures of the reclining tree to Georgia so she might decide what action to take. She called me and we had a conversation about the tree and she told me she’d be in the camping on Sunday morning to welcome the arrival of yet another ‘new’ static van.

I’d intended taking Isabell for another walk but the cold wind and occasional rain persuaded me otherwise.

I’m awaiting my weeds and other food to cook and glancing over towards the Doggy Dinners which I made and processed today. They appear to have been palatable as the dogs are now sleeping silently scattered over the bench seats. Isabella decided it too cold to sleep outside so asked to come inside promising not to menace any of the others. I wont hold my breath.

Showery, windy and quite cool despite almost 10kWh of sunshine. At least the battery is charged so I can be profligate with the heating!
