Crazy Dog!

Today’s alarm was at 04:55 so now the lays of loafing around in bed half the day are over. We shall only be getting up earlier from here on. Consequently, we were out of the gate at 05:15 heading towards a watery Venus to the east. There were plenty of stars due to a mostly-clear sky but still some clouds to the east over the horizon. There were some interesting moments before sunrise as the light streamed over the mountains, but like most of these moments, almost impossible to record.

The sea has build a formidable bank of shingle so the river is now negotiating its way into the waves. At one point recently, when the sea was blowing from the east, there was a kind of bore up the river when the stronger waves pushed the water back inland.

We were back a little earlier than usual so I was able to make tea, feed cats and bend my mind as well as walk Isabella a second time all before nine when I fed the dogs before wandering the camping. I even had time to pick up some of the kite litter and general rubbish from the day before.

The couple in T3 have asked to stay another two nights, the German hiking couple have returned from their sojourn in Elafonissi and taken Z6 for one night. It was raining when they arrived so it wasn’t too hard to get them to ‘upgrade’ to warmer, drier accommodation. The Winklers, who were here until the end of November, have returned to Grammeno for an unspecified stay. They mentioned that, had they not have left their van with friends in Plakias, the Ukrainian war would have put them off returning. The Swiss couple left to do some shopping before catching their ferry from Kissamos tomorrow. Georgia and her entourage left before dark yesterday.

Janne and Erica drove to Krios and walked some of the way towards Elafonissi. They may have got damp as it came on to rain whilst they were out. I rode to Petrakis for some shopping. Particularly bananas and oranges although I still have plenty of leftovers from the Clean Monday celebrations.

I processed the DDs once back then took the dogs for a walk around The Promontory. Today, I remembered the ball-thrower and two balls. The intention being to throw one for Isabella and the other for Luis. Isabella was so full of energy she managed to keep me busy throwing the two balls for her. She’d race out after one ball then hammer back to drop it nearby before setting off after the other which I then threw before picking up the first ball. She did this almost non-stop and got so hot it required a swim in the lagoon then one in the sea off of Alonáki Beach. There were some dark clouds skulking about but they managed to refrain from dropping any water for the duration of our walk.

It has not been cold but overcast with some light showers. Tomorrow is forecast to be a little wetter and the trend is cooler for the next few days with minimum temperature around 6ºC on Thursday and Fridayl
