I was watching the first part of Miss Marple and fell asleep so decided it was time to go to bed. Sascha had a sleep-over with the Swiss/German daughter/father combination in Z3. They stayed only one night so have left this morning. They said Sascha behaved extremely well when they went into Paleochora and lay quietly under the restaurant table whilst they ate.… Read the rest

London Buses

The dogs were active so we went out a little earlier to a warm but cloudy morning. Only Venus and Jupiter were visible but not the moon.

Our walk was quite brisk but uneventful so we were back at the camping by 07:40 for me to wash up from the previous night and exercise my brain after feeding the cats.… Read the rest

Slightly busy

I was awake so we were up and out early so back by 06:35. The sky was clear but the moon was nowhere to be seen as it’s getting very lazy at this time of the month. When it eventually put in an appearance, it was extremely thin and didn’t hang around for long. I suspect we’re not going to see it in the morning for some while.… Read the rest

Indefatigable

I was awake at 04:40 so I thought I may as well get up as the dogs were moving around. After I’d put on their collars, I could see Sascha hanging on the wire of her enclosure so I released the others and let her follow them out.

I spent a little time tripping over her in the dark as she is black and likes to get in between your feet in her hurry to get into everything.… Read the rest

RIP Fluffy Pussy

I went out with six dogs for the initial walk although Sascha was hanging on the wire wanting to come but I felt it might be a little far and I wasn’t sure how the others would respond. The walk went according to plan and we were back in good time for me to feed cats, exercise my brain, walk the two females and go for a bike ride over Panorama at a sensible time.… Read the rest

All Quiet

I fell asleep whilst watching the TV so went to bed as it was nearly ten. Neither Skinny nor Fido wanted to go out. Probably as both had been out at bedtime. Once the dogs were ready, we set off across the field under a clear sky with all four planets conveniently arranged for my appreciation.… Read the rest

Easter Sunday

I successfully sidestepped the Saturday night festivities so was in bed at a reasonable time. Skinny wanted a walk at 04:00 but I managed to get back to sleep after his excursion to rise again at 05:00. We were out on a clear morning under a star-studded sky with a few planets thrown in for good measure.… Read the rest

Easter Arrivals

Skinny, who was sleeping below me on the ledge over the engine needed to go out so I called it a night and we all got up.

A motorhome and car littered the car park and we discovered the tent on the second pass. The dogs’ flashing lights probably made pretty patterns on the tent sides.… Read the rest

Charlie and Millie Reunited

The sound of the sea from the east filed gently through my brain as I became conscious. It was around 05:20 by the time we crossed the field with Skinny and Isabella leading the charge into the darkness. Fortunately, there was only light cloud to the east so dawn began to take over from the muted moonlight.… Read the rest

Early Up

Up a little earlier as, on a clear day, it’s quite light in the mornings. The alarm is now set for 04:55. There were no hairy surprises waiting outside the gate as The Rug was collected by her owner the previous evening.

The four planets, in descending order: Saturn, Mars, Venus and Jupiter were almost in a straight line although Jupiter, the last to arrive just before dawn, was soon invisible due to sunlight on the horizon.… Read the rest

One Day Older

Stone sculptures in the lagoon before it rained.

With no rain or wind, the day got off to a great start. I put collars on dogs and let them outside and thence to the field gate where, sitting quietly, there was a large, fluffy German Shepherd. Strangely, she’d not made a sound and the other dogs made no sign that she was there either.… Read the rest

Rain pattered on the roof as I awoke on my birthday so I set a thirty-minute timer and went back to sleep. The rain had stopped and the dogs wanted to go out so up we got. There were still some interesting clouds but the big black ones had already passed so were annoying the people who are daft enough to live in the mountains.… Read the rest

On His Way

Charlie will have arrived in Piraeus early today to continue his journey to Patras and then on to Italy. He’s getting nearer to Leicester by the minute.

The morning was still and the angry sea from the day before was a thing of the past. We crossed the rocks and the causeway without difficulty under gentle moonlight.… Read the rest

Happy Easter!

I didn’t rush out as it was Sunday and it was very windy. I could hear the sound of the sea to the east so knew where the wind was coming from and how strong it was. The sky was cloudy, the moon was mostly invisible and only Venus poked her nose through the clouds when she could.… Read the rest

A little lie-in meant we were out after 05:30 to a cloudy, slightly unappealing and windy morning. The moon was struggling between the clouds and only Venus was visible for much of the time. Otherwise, our walk was unremarkable.

Having put dogs inside and fed cats, I exercised my brain and then took Isabella and her ball as far as the Big Beach for some ball-throwing which included swimming out into the sea.… Read the rest

Good Friday

It was a little later this morning as I was awake and then fell back to sleep. It was cool out but the sky was clear so I was able to see Saturn, Mars, Venus and finally Jupiter almost in a straight line. Venus was still visible after all the other planets and stars had disappeared.… Read the rest

Goodbye Charlie

Fido and Skinny went out for a wee around four so I ended up standing around waiting for them to come in. I think I got up at five so we were out about 05:15. The moon was on its way to bed so didn’t stay with us very long. Venus was watery until she rose a little higher in the sky.… Read the rest

Busy Morning

It was 04:00 when I woke up. The dogs were scratching around at 04:50 so at 04:55 I gave up, dressed and took out the dogs. Another clear sky although Venus was looking a little watery. The first inkling of dawn was 05:50 as we were walking back from the river.

It was light as we recrossed the rocks and still quite early so we spent time in the sandy area before starting back to the camping.… Read the rest

More Arrivals

Lots of fidgeting from the dogs, all of whom were inside last night, even Obi! I lingered but finally got up with the alarm. It was a lovely morning; dark at first but became light quite quickly. Manic Monday

There was wind in the night which increased during the morning. The Early Walk was blustery and I was underdressed. My morning routine was put out of balance as Bona arrived to work and needed keys. More arrivals and departures

There was no wind! Somehow, it took a long time to get the dogs ready even though they were all inside as a captive audience. It seemed to take forever to get them into their collars.

Not So Busy

It was quite windy in the night so the section of the awning tent which is disintegrating was flapping noisily in the darkness quite annoyingly. It has now been rolled up and secured and I will remove the detached lower section from the decking as it serves no useful purpose.
