New Minotaur

Ducking Fogs barking at 04:30 disrupted my dreams even though it wasn’t far off waking up time, it was annoying. I’ve asked Dimitris to arrange for Tony to put in the dogs at bedtime to avoid the alternative dawn chorus. Let’s hope this is done.

All but Luis went on the Early Walk which turned out to be the only walk of the day as things ran away with me a little. The planets have changed a little as Venus is getting up later than Jupiter which is consequently speeding ahead of her. The alignment is still pretty straight however the spacing has changed a little. Otherwise, there was a good selection of astral bodies, the sky was clear and colourful and it was warm and still. Who would wish for more?

I received a message via the Google Business thingie. An Aussie couple we’d passed earlier on our walk wanted to check-in so I said it was ok as it was 07:45; they turned up moments later. They toured the site and chose a pitch which resembled the Amazon Jungle where their truck just fitted in. I didn’t see them parking but imagine it was interesting. They plan to stay a couple of days…

I disappeared to Paleochora for some shopping forgetting to get batteries for Skinny’s flashing light so will have to improvise. I did manage to purchase a new ladle since the other one has been modified.

A couple with a small, elderly, fluffy, white dog came and are pitched in the area above the customer kitchen. They’d arrived from the boat so went off to Houmas for some beer and a meal. They returned later, refreshed and reinvigorated.

A Swiss couple drove into the camping and down towards the bar so had to be turned around and redirected. We tried three unsuitable pitches before settling for the tallest in the camping. I try to be patient however there are limits… I want people to wait at the gate until I attend to them, walk the camping to find a suitable place then drive into it. The system works and saves a lot of time but some people just have to do it their way. The man’s wife was showing signs of discomfort and exasperation.

The ACS courier brought the long-awaited wall bracket for my new minotaur. I conveniently picked up a piece of ply which Tony kindly bisected for me. I drilled holes and fixed it up using the solid wall hardware provided in the package. I was in the middle of attaching the monitor to the bracket when the phone rang. I had only one screw Trying to support and screw the bracket to the back of the monitor which weighs 15kg is bad enough without having to attend to a new arrival. They were a couple of Dutch cycle-tourists who are now Swiss. They have set themselves up in the area north of me as it’s a little crowded near the beach. In contrast to the previous arrivals, they were a dream!

The minotaur is now installed although there appears to be no means of adjusting the bracket swivel friction so there is a small box keeping the monitor in the correct position. Compared to the previous monitor, it’s a lot larger so I’ll have no problem reading text and the picture is sizeable. There are a few minor adjustments still to be done but it does the job and can manage up to four screen inputs which can be tiled on the screen. I could watch a film and view a couple of cameras in other screens if desired. Each screen is the size of a decent monitor.

Lower resolution material such as Perry Mason looks a little grainy but HD images look good. I’ve not looked at a 4K image even though the MacMini and the monitor can handle that resolution.

Isabella is now residing in the Boris Chateau and has been a model dog today. Sascha has successfully destroyed a couple of cardboard boxes but nothing of value as far as I can see. She’s been very good considering the lack of input from me or the dogs.
