Busy Saturday

Georgia announced that she’d be looking after reception from 11:00 which sounded quite an attractive proposition should it come to pass…

I had a shower, watched a very interesting series on the logistics of D-Day. Some of the figures involving the invasion were amazing and we know from recent experience that logistics are key. I went to bed later than normal having remembered to put my bike batteries on charge as they were very low. It seemed only a short while before the alarm went off and we were out on The Promontory.

Initially, there was no moon however a sliver appeared a little later. I think it’s the last visible moon as a New Moon is on the horizon. Venus was easily visible as was Jupiter with Mars close by. Saturn is way ahead of everything by the time we were out.

There were more flashing dogs as all now have a waterproof collar light which should manage around 250 hours to a couple of small batteries. 250 hours equates to around three months of morning walks. Slightly different in winter when the days are shorter. Otherwise, no surprises.

After an hour, I took out the other two again so that Isabella could swim out after her ball. This seems to be her thing now.

Later, I rode into Petrakis via Panorama on my fully-charged batteries. I needed some bits for the doggy dinners.

The German/Swiss lady wanted to leave so we had a chat whilst I collected her money and a kind donation of a few kg of dog biscuits. I had DDs to prepare so got on with that as I knew there would be no shortage of arrivals.

I watched the entrance via the camera and welcomed almost all of the customers. Even though the majority had Greek names, some were English speaking or American with Greek partners. Several were a group of friends with associated children. Some were here back in February and work at the US bases as far as I know. There is some accommodation still available however the most is taken or will be tomorrow.

I was summoned to eat at the restaurant with Georgia, Lena and some friends who are staying in T5. I chose gemista again as I love stuffed peppers and tomatoes. There was plenty of salad as well as loads of beetroot with lots of garlic. The gemista was swimming in oil and even Georgia mentioned there was too much! I managed to eat the meal uninterrupted but finally the T1 couple arrived. Around the same time, the M1 contingent sent a message to say they’d arrive a couple of hours later than they planned. Great Joy! They’ll not get much of a tour of the camping at 21:00.

I’ve processed the DDs so we’re waiting for the rice to depressurise and then the dogs can be fed. I’ve not had much sleeping time so I suspect I may not be late to bed…

Another warm and sunny day but only just above 30ºC. Tomorrow should be cooler and hopefully calmer as some have paid on arrival and there is only one new arrival in Z6.
