Pour Saw Pore

Fido needed to exit in the night so I went back to bed and left the gate open. Later, Sasha woofed at something so I hissed at her to be quiet calling for Fido at the same time. I decided he could stay outside so closed the gate. As I was putting on the collars later, before going outside, I realised that Fido was inside after all.

We were walking across the field at the same moment Kostas arrived in his 4×4 which caused a certain amount of excitement. However, a couple of stern words rallied the troops. We met Kostas as he collected what little salt there was and he spent time petting the dogs. Not Luis however, as he was nowhere to be found. He and Kostas have unfond memories as Luis would always bark at him. Luis keeps well out of Isabella’s way until she’d burned off some of her energy.

We proceeded past a selection of vehicles parked on or near to Alonaki Beach. I was wearing boots for the first time since I received the FiveFingers as I’d bashed my little toe the previous day so felt it could do with a few days protection to recover. Walking in hiking shoes feels a little like walking in diving boots after being ‘barefoot’. The amount of noise you make wearing boots is phenomenal.

Returning to the Promontory, there was distressed wailing from the centre of a bush which attracted the attention of the entire party, including Luis, who felt he might join us. Sasha had apparently caught or injured her front-right leg so I did the ‘there, there’ routine whilst inspecting it carefully. She stood meekly but was reluctant to extend herself after that point. We completed our circuits and returned to base where I did a few little jobs before playing with my brain. The end of the ten-minute meditation was again illusive.

I took the girlies who’d been reposing daintily on a second amble. Isabella swam after the ball a couple of times but then lost the urge. We annoyed the woman who’s afraid of dogs even though I reassured her she wouldn’t be eaten. At least there were only the two of them.

I rode over Panorama and around Paleochora on fully-charged batteries against a periodically strong wind. I stopped for bread before returning to Grammeno via the sea at Alonaki. It was lumpy and the dogs had been inside since 06:30 so I had a quick swim and then loafed in the sun for a few minutes.

Following yesterday’s busy day, I felt like a little rest so amused myself dismantling Dimitris’ laptop to copy the music on his hard disk to my network storage. I checked the main board for signs of moisture and could see where the board and components had been given a bath. Perhaps, if the battery had been removed and the laptop left to dry out it might have been possible with the help of a little alcohol to rescue the situation. I tried cleaning the board with 95º spirit but to no avail. It’s not a new laptop anyway.

I received a call from a lady who lives at Kakopetros who hoped I might come out to fix her laptop. I said that I’d meet her at Anatoli in Paleochora tomorrow at 08:30 and that she should bring the laptop and her backup device. I suspect that removing the DVD which has escaped inside will be fairly straightforward, depending on the type of laptop. I said I’d back up all of her stuff at the same time. This should justify my enormous fee.

My next mission will be a walk to the kitchen to see if there’s anything to eat that I might like. I shall then put on some Doggy Rice and feeding time will be next.

The temperature has been consistently warm and would have been significantly warmer without the wind which has been with us all day to varying degrees. Tomorrow is forecast to be windier and consequently cooler.
