Dry Feet

I was expecting the possibility of dampness and an excuse to loaf in bed for half the day but things had changed since last I looked. There was some dampness but it was near the end of the walk and not very annoying.

I took the two girls after and performed another, quicker circuit as there were now more clouds some of which were black and threatening. Fortunately, we were back before the next instalment of rain so I meditated quietly until the rain stopped.

I rode over Panorama around Paleochora stopping at Petrakis for some DD materials as tomorrow I need to prepare the next batch. It seems only a little while since I made the last lot. There seemed to be more clouds massing to the west so I knew we were in for more rain.

Then the sun came and it was a mixture of sunny intervals and showers once more. The battery is almost full again now.

There was no Internet connection on my part of the network which turned out to be a blown fuse at the main panel for the kitchen. I reset it but there was a loud bang and a flash so this time I switched off all the circuits and tried again with the same result. I wrote to Maria to ask for an electrician to call. I wasn’t prepared to mess around in that box. It turned out to be water-related when it was fixed later.

In the meantime, I brought power over from the poo pump shed to keep the fridge and Internet going. I finally called Maria to get some action on the electrical front. Georgia was suggesting Xanthippos check it out but I said it was nothing straightforward and needed someone who knew; she reluctantly called the electrician who came out later.

The network switch in the kitchen has not been replaced so we’re one AP down at present. The beachfront one has also thrown a wobbly so I went to tend to that too. That is now working again.

I found time to complete and submit my tax form and fall asleep in the sun. Later, I took Sasha for a walk on the Promontory as Kirsti had already taken Isabella with Jorma and Fido. Apparently, Fido found his way onto their bed during the nighttime thunderstorms. Just as Kirsti had predicted.

The sea is still coming over the rocks quite regularly although we crossed this morning and I crossed later with Sasha. I could see from puddles and wet rocks how recently the sea had been climbing out of it’s bed. Sasha made friends with a young Dutch/Greek guy who lives in Paleochora. We chatted with the Belgian guy for a little while.

Another sunny and showery day with plenty of rain in the evening. Unsettled weather will continue for several days as we march into February. The outlook is cooler…
