No Shirt!

There was a slight delay in getting up which wasn’t really a problem as it was windy and colder again. The sky was clear and the moon is now towards the east at that time of day as it’s approaching the end of its cycle.

I kept a good pace as we walked up the road to Plakaki as the wind was cold and in my face. It was getting light as we walked back which made it easier for me to stop any unwanted migration into gardens or forecourts. The wind was gusty as we had our last biscuits at the high rock before crossing the causeway and returning to the camping.

I set off almost immediately with the girls as it was sunnier and marginally warmer by then although the wind was still jolly chilly. I chose to perform my FST in the relative shelter of the bushes on the beach than on the rocks. A coaster was moving up and down between the Promontory and Paleochora, presumably looking for somewhere to anchor up. I didn’t see them as I rode back so assume they decided to move on.

My chilly trip to Paleochora via Panorama took me to Anatoli and then to Petrakis. I was later going in as I saw that the wind would moderate after nine and the forecast was not wrong. Still chilly though – there’s a theme developing here…

I was around five minutes away from the camping when I received a call from a young family waiting outside the camping office. I hurried up to get back to show them the camping. They were born in Bielefeld which is near where Sandra and Sonja are living and working. The couple have a young baby and a dog. They might stay for a while if they like the camping. I point out that the older, and slightly passé showers are heated by the sun. From there I can judge the ecological credentials of the customers.

The dogs were eventually released and fed then I got going producing their food for later. It was nearer midday than eleven as time had played a bit of a trick on me. Leaving after nine didn’t help.

I settled down with a well-deserved cup of tea and entered some of the reservations into he booking calendar. I’d received a call from Vasilis, who knows me, as he was booking T2/3 for the holiday weekend at the end of the month. I thought I’d better get these bookings in as the weekend might be busy. I don’t recall such interest previously. Then, 6 January was extraordinary too.

The sun became so warm I discarded some layers and even opened a window. At one point I removed my shirt which must have been a shock to Laura when I accidentally made a video call to her. I just wanted to firm up the arrangements for the removal of ‘Anke’s’ caravan now that I know she’s not returning after her trip to Germany.

Time then to process the DDs and make something for myself. There were some nice beans today so I went mad and bought a load. I suspect Yiannis didn’t charge me the right amount as I seem to have a lot of beans for my 3.50€. They are something like 5.50€/kilo, more expensive than Broccoli, which seems to be stupidly expensive.

My potatoes are cooked and hopefully the beans quite soon, as I forgot to cover the spuds although they’re on the bamboo chopping board.

Considerably warmer than yesterday and very pleasant in the sun once the wind finally subsided. Tomorrow should be as warm but perhaps cloudier than today. Lots of swimmers and Mickey was sunbathing on the beach!
