Finders Keepers

The wind got up in the night so I was back to a coat zipped up with a hood. It was quite chilly again. The moon hasn’t been with us for a couple of days. There was one camper van in the car park which is parked up parallel to the beach and has been there several days.

I walked briskly to the end of the Promontory and managed to cross the rocks without being blown over. I’d hoped we might have a few wind-free days for a change.

It wasn’t too bad walking to Plakaki. Luis was with me part of the way but was lost in the darkness after a while. I was more interested in preventing the bigger dogs from making a nuisance of themselves in the gardens. Only Skinny and Isabella went in and I soon had them out. Obi seems to think he’s invisible too for some reason.

I fed biscuits to all except Luis who magically reappeared on the Promontory later. So long as he’s not bothering anyone I don’t really mind. He has a problem of some kind possibly to do with his leg or foot. I’m sure I’ll eventually find out if it’s serious enough or he’ll just get better on his own.

Skinny joined the Crazies on the second walk which I didn’t prolong as I was quite keen to get back due to the blusteriness and the desire to empty the washing machine from the timer load and put in one for Richard (AKA Mr Tree) his name is Baum in German. I went out on my bike once I’d relaxed my brain.

It was windy but not inconveniently so. I stopped at Petrakis to buy bananas and some big spuds for the DD’s tomorrow. Then back to the camping to return Richard’s laundry to him.

I fed the dogs after I’d toured the camping with Manos as I’d mentioned some of the cabins needed a paint and some sealant at the rear. I also mentioned all the sand underneath Ξ1/2.

Ι made tea for myself and might have fallen asleep in the sun for a while. I felt it time to wander the camping where I came upon a 50€ note, then another until I’d picked up five. It’s difficult finding money so I took it back to the van to see if anyone claimed it later. I continued my original quest which as to collect up the sheets from some of the cabins. The UK couple in Ξ6 said they’d be leaving and the parent and partner had already left a couple of days previously. They paid the bill having stayed five nights and not the one originally intended. They fly back from Iraklion tomorrow.

It was later that I found Manos forlornly wandering the camping saying he’d lost some money. When asked be replied he’s lost 300€, a fairly significant amount. I casually asked its make-up to be told it was all in 50’s so I let him sweat a little and continued on my way. Later, I saw him on his own and told him I found some money but not 300€. He then remembered he’s spent some in Petrakis and the filling station so I decided what I found earlier must have been his. Apparently, he’d stuffed it in his jacket pocket so it must have fallen out when he went to use his phone. Rather casual I felt considering the sum involved.

I returned to the dogs to sit in the sun whilst the machine washed the sheets from M6, Ξ6 and Ξ3. Managed to add money to my Cosmote phone account which was a bonus. It’s easier than buying codes as they money comes straight from my bank account. I might possibly have gone into standby again.

It was getting near teatime so I took the bean stew from the fridge in the customer kitchen and prepared rice for the dogs. I hung up the sheets which I retrieved from the machine. Only three machines today!

If Manos has a good memory, I should be well served when next I go for food!

Cooler than yesterday and quite windy. The wind may be with us for a couple of days.
