Infiltrator

I was left in peace to enjoy my evening meal as there were no further unexpected arrivals. I was woken in the night by a mosquito which had managed to find its way under my insect tent having infiltrated my defences a little like the latest skirmish into the Russian Motherland. Despite my efforts, I was unable to exterminate it so went back to sleep instead.

We were out at 04:45 to discover the Italian guy’s motorhome was no longer next to the beach car park loos. The other Italian motorhome, which has been there for a few days, was still there. It seemed a little lighter than yesterday, mostly due to a clear, starry sky. We were soon on our way to Plakaki where we visited the rocks on the first time around. I was walking back again when I realised I’d forgotten to hang out the washing left in a plastic bag in the laundry room from the day before.

I decided we’d go back to base after the second Plakaki visit so that I could feed the pussies and hang up the washing. Luis, Obi and Oskar went inside to enjoy DW’s news whilst Skinny hung around with the girls. He’s obviously clairvoyant as he was hoping for another walk with them. With the washing drying, we grabbed the thrower and set off for the beach throwing the ball on the way. I threw it into the sea a couple of times then we walked around the Promontory and back to the van. Skinny joined the other boys and I prepared to get on my bike and go into Paleochora.

I went straight to the bakery as it was 08:15 by the time I left so not really enough time for Panorama and a trip around the town. I went to Petrakis to buy the items I’d forgotten the day before and then rode back. I knew no one was leaving but unsure of who might arrive.

I fed the dogs once I’d exercised my brain then prepared the DDs for later. With a cup of tea by my side I eventually sat down to drink it. Some of the morning may have passed me by.

The German guy with the small tent, recently relocated to near the Common Room, sent a message to say he’d be staying a couple more nights. He seems happy with his spot under the eucalyptus tree.

A couple with a motorhome called to say they wanted to stay so I wandered to the office to see them. They’d already looked around the camping and decided their van was too high to make it down towards the beach so wanted to stay in the tallest bay. The woman was convinced she knew everything they needed but I gave them a look around regardless.

I’d not been back long when Maria called to tell me a couple with a roof tent wanted to see the camping. They were much more relaxed and responsive and are now down by the beach next to the gate.

HRH arrived this afternoon so doubtless there will be a meeting with her and the NMDB in the office at some point to commence her induction. We might also learn when the restaurant is likely to be opening.

Whilst showing the customers around the camping, I could see the bulldozer pushing sand back into the sea. I can now hear it remodelling the beach on the Alonáki side. The poles for the umbrellas have been appearing the past few days so I imagine the chairs will soon appear on each of the beaches before too long.

There are now a few more customers in the camping so it’s a little less like the Marie Celeste.

Hotter than yesterday and particularly windless. Tomorrow’s weather is looking like today’s but it might be unsettled Friday/Saturday.
